He's having surgery so the back problem can be cured once and for all.
When a player returns from long spells out he is always likely to get another niggle. What is good in this case is that it is the sort of injury that will not effect his performances in the future. Obviously once the back is gone, it's gone - but in this case it is just a niggle. Nothing too seroius or he'd have had the operation by now.
It's not like he's done his hammy like Owen or his knees like Mcgrath or King. He'll be fine.Forwards.......Comment

It's a different problem to last season but it is the injury he developed whilst on tour thsi summer. With niggles they sometimes go away and obviously the preference is always to avoid surgery.
