    Sorry... its a NOTW article

Okay... I know I should steer clear of the rag (NOTW - online).

Rob Shepherd - The Fleet Street Brawler.

    What a gimp!

Since when did Liverpool have a ****ing Racing Driver in our playing ranks!

Typical tabloid tosh from Rob Shepherd. He's just as bad as that Chelsea biased bald knob who writes for the scummy sun.

Here's the article... Just love it that they can't work out the difference between Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso.... I give you Fernando Alonso - Renault F1 driver... ****s!

    Article:

LIVERPOOL fans went berserk a few weeks ago when I dared to suggest on a talkSport show they wouldn't finish in the top four.

I stand by that. In fact there's even more reason to think it and that reason is called Tottenham.

The main premise of my original argument was that Arsenal would be stronger than most predicted and Manchester City's money really would help them muscle in on Chelsea and Manchester United.

So far the signs say the battle at top could be the most open we have seen for years. Tottenham's empathic start adds weight to the theory that they can challenge for Champions League football. That spells even more danger for Rafa Benitez and Liverpool.

That is not just a knee-jerk reaction to Tottenham's 2-1 win over Liverpool last week but the manner of it. Spurs now look to have that alchemy of shape, spirit, stamina and style as emphasised in the 6-1 drubbing of Hull.

It would appear they also have a squad with genuine quality in depth, well equipped to cope if they lost some of their first picks for a while. The same cannot be said of Liverpool who would sorely miss Steven Gerrard for any given time now Xabi Alonso has gone.

Certainly looking at the two benches at White Hart Lane last Sunday, Spurs have more options up front while Liverpool still seem so dependent on Fernando Alonso.

With Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane to start, and Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko as back up, the Spurs strike force looks as strong as ANY in the Premier League, and they have world-class midfielders in Luka Modric and Wilson Palacios.

The defence looks sound and David James may yet arrive to bolster it.

West Ham may well pose Tottenham a stern test this afternoon but it will be Spurs not the Hammers who will be up there when it matters.

Credit must also go to chairman Daniel Levy, who has learned from past mistakes and backed Redknapp, but not to the point of reckless spending on transfer fees and wages.

Tottenham are in a more robust financial shape than most so if come the January transfer window Redknapp wants a couple more players to kick on he could get them.

Despite all the Anfield bravado, no wonder Benitez is already starting to sound like a worried man.

**** article. Spurs first XI has never been good enough to get into the top 4 and now suddenly their backup is apparently great. Back to the nonsense about the benches last week. We had FIVE internationals out. Do Spurs even HAVE 5 internationals? I'd have to count...

Furthermore, they beat Hull 5-1, not 6-1. Factual inaccuracies make any article difficult to take seriously.

And finally, Liverpool fans didnt go berserk Rob, because we dont actually care what you think. In one ear, and out the other. Because that's how much you matter.

      Pelacios and Modric world class?

I agree with the manner of Spurs's win over us, they outpassed and outplayed us for long periods. Normally against these teams if we have an off day its a scrappy or unlucky goal that drops us the points, this was quite the opposite. Spurs have an abundance of quality now, far richer in attacking resources than us. I would say though that we are superior (with all players fit and only having 11 on the pitch). Its when we have injuries that we're going to struggle, which I think is probably the point he was making.

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

                Waste of good trees.

Even Graham Taylor can outwit this dullard.

Apart from the 4-5 first-team squad players missing last week, we had both centre-backs, plus Torres and Gerrard carrying knocks and in doubt right until the last minute. All four of them played exactly as if they were unfit - leaving aside the fact that our defence was doing just fine until the clash of heads between the CBs.

Their goals were hardly the result of flowing attacking play, "outpassing" us either: a free-kick rebound just lashed back in that would have cleared the roof 9 times out of 10 and a soft header from another free-kick because of poor marking

Spurs attacking resources are exactly what they were last season, plus Peter Crouch and they finished light years behind us in goals scored and points achieved, so I fail to see how good old Crouchie's inclusion has miraculously catapulted them ahead of us - easily top league scorers and the only club with three players to score more than 10 league goals - in attacking resources.

They will once again finish well behind us in position, points and goals and will be lucky to qualify for the Europa League - and you can quote me on this at the end of the season. The best they can hope for is if the big teams play second-string players in the Carling Cup, letting second-level clubs like Spurs in through the back door to maybe snatch the most minor of domestic trophies

                        1. Agreed, I wasn't really saying otherwise?

                        2. Where did I say that their goals were the result of their free flowing attacking play? What I said was that they outplayed and outpassed us for long periods....only the most blinkered of fans would say that they didn't outplay us in that game and deserve the win. Also, that's not to say that they are a better team than us, its saying that on the day they played better.

                        3. Last season Spurs had a bad spell with a new manager, thats why they suffered so badly. They may not be the world's best but they still have 4 quality strikers compared to our 1 (at a stretch two). Regardless of where they finished, this is a fact.

                        4. I agree that they'll finish behind us, I didn't say they wouldn't? I do think they'll qualify for european footy, though not the CL.

Its still the sunday sun though, so I don't see the difference. I thought Owen was a little c*nt for doing that.
