Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva admits he came close to joining Fiorentina at the end of last season.

After their Champions League defeat last night, Lucas revealed: "I can confirm that I was very close to moving to Tuscany, but then nothing has happened. I do not know why, maybe they saw me play"

"The Fiorentina I saw today was a strong team, especially in midfield. We could not stop them. In the second half we tried to attack but we were unlucky. At this point we have to win against Lyon."

If Lucas doesnt give the ball away without doing anything spectacular - us supporters class that as him having a good game.

If he does anything midly inventive he had a fantastic game.

He is young and has much to learn but he has been very mediocre for most of his liverpool career and doesnt deserve the best player of the season so far accolade.
