    Worst case scenario (contains doom!)

Theoretically, what would happen if we didn't qualify for the CL this year and the club didn't change ownership?

I'm thinking about what happened to Leeds.....if anything, it could be even worse for us. When Leeds were flying high there wasn't such an emphasis on spending multimillions in order to gain some success. Leeds also didn't have the huge debts hanging over them where interest payments alone are wiping out all the profit.

The next 12 months are going to be very interesting...

If we didnt qualify for the CL, surely that would be the last straw for the yanks.

I'd certainly hope so anyway. It'd reduce the value of the club immensely and they'd (hopefully) see any kind of profit as the best way to cut their losses and **** off.

If someone guaranteed me that it'd see the end of these cunts, i'd sacrifice finishing in the top four.

Thats the understatement of the century, Leeds had massive debts.

I don't think it is over the top. We don't have a god given right to be in the top 4.

How much is the CL worth a season? 20/30 million?

We would just have to sell a few players to recoup that or maybe G + T would walk if this happened. I think its massively over the top to say non CL qualification would ruin us.

Sell Torres next season and we would probably get 70million..........

Selling our best players would be a very short term solution and would ensure that CL qualification evaded us. IF we got 70m for Torres, most of that would go on debt. Who could we bring in on a shoestring budget that would be as good as Torres and not be bothered about the lack of CL football? And we'd probably be outbid by one of the richer clubs anyway!

What's the point in all of this debate Carheex? I'm all open to any kind of debate but **** me, this is getting ridiculous. There's so many things that we don't know and which are happening behind the scenes, so making this type of debate futile at most.

We should be able to get £60-70m for Torres, so the owners should be ok.

i'd agree - had a similar convo last, i think the yanks are in the 'business minds' doing enough of a bare minimum to keep us in the top four so they can just milk champions league revenue - if we ell out of the top four they would have to sell
