Relying on any single player is a very very bad thing. We need to sort this mess out now rather than putting our faith in a brand new signing crock. Don't get me wrong, I hope he is a great player for us but we should not be reliant on it.

The current side should be capable of far more than they are showing, we are currently a shambles.

No one is relying on one player but Aquilani should be able to improve our performance.

      Crock!!

The current side are missing some key players who are injured. Lets look at things when they are back and fit.

You say that, but aside from 15 minutes of madness due to Skrtel and Carra jumping into eachother we have never looked like conceding a goal from open play.

Sort it out from set pieces and we'll be a force again. The times we have struggled with ideas to break teams down is when we are losing and our opponents have XI men behind the ball, yet we've still scored in every game and created numerous more chances.
          Forwards.......

I've never seen this lad play, not once so I cannot say what he'll offer to us I do however have a feeling that he may be something like a Litmanen type player going by what I've read about him, someone that's buzzing around always looking for the ball.

            Hopefully he'll be like that!

Quality, just what we need. Hopefully he'll start training shortly and we can see him. The fact that we don't have a game for a fortnight will be good for him so he can start working on his fitness.

I've spoken to a guy at work who's half Italian and worships the Italian league. He rates him very highly and says we have signed a very good player. This guy will definately be involved in more goals than Alonso as he plays further up the pitch.

The only thing I'm afraid of is all the pressure that is put on him right from the start. The bad results, and performance at times, puts increasing expectations and pressure on Aquilani, which he can hardly fulfill when he is in his first lineup.

Coming back from a long injury, new team, new style of play and a different football culture will make it hard for him to perform straight away. But the pressure is certainly there, so perhaps he can almost only disappoint from the start?

I think he will improve the team over time, but I think the expectation are perhaps a bit high atm, and not least because we can all see something is needed in the midfield.

he needs proper match fitness......so add on an extra 3/5 games of 90 mins then expect a comeback date

You're right. And the expectation is growing higher with every game we play too as everyone is attributing our poor performances being down to the fact Alonso no longer plays for us and Lucas is failing miserably granted the opportunity offered to him with Alonso's sale. When Aquilani eventually plays for us, every poor performance will be magnified. And he will inevitably have poor games for us given the fact he's coming back from a injury and also the fact he's playing in a new league.

                          I desperately hope so.

I'm just concerned as to whether he'll be able to cope with the physical aspect. In the prem you get very little time on the ball, esp in the midfield.
Can't wait to see him in action.

he will add another genuine goal threat to gerrard and torres. Other than that we have no-one who is classed as a proper offensive threat.

additionally we will have a goal threat from long range which if gerrard doesnt play in midfield we dont have

Lucas isnt alonso and he isnt mascherano. I dont know what type of midfielder he is supposed to be and probably he doesnt either.

We don't really look like a good team at the moment in my opinion and I also think that the current squad (even if it is a little bare) should be playing at a much better level. I hope Aquilani improves us but we should really be ok without him.
