I think he is a cnut for the same reason Merson is.....he spouts bollocks.

To be fair mate, Cascarino doesn't really have a good word to day about anyone. Whenever I read his Times column he just comes across as a moaning, bitter, miserable old git.

I really don't care if Johnson plays **** for England or he gets dropped as long as he carries on playing for us the same way he has been doing then he will do for me for a long, long time. I just think to use our poor start as a bit of a stick to beat Johnson with is wrong IMO.
      Happened at Spurs mainly.

but as dww pointed out, other people should cover that. I
That's basically where his defensive flaws are.

Apart from the two defeats, like.

As for Mark Bright, he's pretty clueless and i wouldnt take much of what he says too seriously. Even if he thinks Johnson could 'cost england the world cup' (bizarre sentiment, which suggests the trophy is in Terry's hands already ), i'd be keen to know who he would suggest as a replacement. Johnson's the best english RB by a chasm.

Mark Bright - who is an utter cunt - did a total demolition job on Johnson in today's Metro.

Edit - just seen it posted above. Bright fills his ****ty column with continual attacks on Liverpool and our players. He must be another bitter ex-player who won **** all while we were winning everything in sight.

Yeah, he rarely reproduced his superb LFC form in an england shirt.

Not that i was particularly ****ed, mind. Likewise, my only interest in Johnson concerns his performances for Liverpool.

Who the **** cares about what Cascarino has to say? It seems a lot judging by this thread. FFS guys, are you all going to have a hissy fit when someone's gonna criticise one of our own?

Anyone think he was good defensively yesterday? I think there were 1 or 2 times where he was a bit ropey, but he cut out quite a few passes thanks to his pace

I though he did quite well, made a few vital interceptions, crucially one that led to the winning goal. I think West Ham were wary his attacking threat though and smothered him for most of the game, often doubling up.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I thought he was fine. He only really struggles when left one on one wide where he is too easily turned. Other than that so long as you accept that he will not be a diligent, safely positioned fullback but someone more in the mould of Roberto Carlos - using his athleticism to get back from advanced positions - he is a very good defender otherwise.

A big problem we have though is that none of our back six is dominant in the air and he falls into that category.
