IMO rafa didn't want him to stay. if he did he would have publicly bent over backwards to praise him like he does kyut, reina, gerard and torres. alonso never got praise. he didn't stay because he didnt feel wanted. and that lies solely at rafa's feet. he wanted alonso out. that i am sure about.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Alonso said he would be happy what ever happened because there was a chance the deal would not go through. Every player comes out with the same line unless they have had a major falling out with someone at their current club an dthe situation is untenable. And Alonso would leave it to the suits because that's what he pays his agent for.Originally posted by Nicey View PostUtter bollix ... most high profile transfers happen without the need to hand in transfer requests and in football things can change in 12 hours let alone 3 months, Alonso as far as I can see it, kept mum and basically left the suits to sort it out saying he would be happy what ever happened.
He obviously wanted out and fair enough, it happens and he left us for a team many consider the biggest club in the world in his home country in World Cup Season.
People do not know jack **** about what went on .. and untill they do or someone says look I am with the club or I know for a fact people should lay off the insults to a player who was for the most part a sensation player for us.
My memory must be shot because I seem to rememeber him only having 1 off par season and then coming back tronger than ever
As for people not knowing went on................... Naive at best Nicey, surely? I could say that about anything in the world that I happened to not be at. Part of the worlds problems are down to people choosing to turn a blind eye to the obvious, despite a million reports to the contrary.
At the end of the day mate you loved Xabi. And who am I to tell you or anyone else to simply forget about him and move on? He was a classy player and a pleasure to watch. The fact he wanted to leave for Real is nothing to hold against him. They are a massive club in his home land, offering more money and a better lifestyle. Why the **** would he not want to go? Love of the fans? Do me a favour..............
He's a professional footballer and in doing 5 years at the club and giving us a massive profit on the transfer fee should rightly leave with his head held high.Forwards.......

Man the reality of the world we live in gets in the way though ... its not like he can come out and say I am off but if the deal does not go through I will be staying ...Originally posted by red g View Postif he was happy whatever happened why did he not stay?
personally i think that was a load of ****e, ie alonso not saying what he really wants
His manager wanted him to stay we all know that......so if he was just going with the flow why move?
Alonso ' i am happy whatever happens'
Alonso ' i made my mind up to leave last may'
one of the above statements is false......and its the first one.
I have no issue him leaving, its with the way he left .....but then without going through 70 pages of that Alonso thread i also do recall probably 90% of posters being pissed off that none of us knew whether he was coming or going, yet he had made his mind up last may.......thats not the way to treat the best fans in the world is it?
There will always be people pissed off, but they guy behaved as best he could given the situation. Lets not forget the dealings between Real and Liverpool were hardly fair and above board so it was not exactly a shoe in that the deal would be done, so I am guessing he did not know himself until very late on that the deal was likely to be agreed ...
Call the little cunt Douf a pussy not one of the best passers of the ball this club has ever seen.

Going off your own analysis of him, are you Rafa?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostThat was going off what was said in Gerrard & Carra's books.
Perhaps, what with encountering rafa on a daily basis, they're probably in a good position to comment, better than you or i, wouldnt you agree?

He made it clear to Rafa he wanted to leave. He can't come out and say it to the fans in case the deal didn't go ahead. It was hardly a guarantee as the price Real thought they'd get him for was way below what we actually did want.
Look at the Gareth Barry situation last year. He made it clear early on that he wished to leave and put in a transfer request. When we couldn't afford him or wouldn't pay the price he was left in a very difficult situation and it took him a long time to win the fans over.
Now look at the Alonso situation and the Barry situation. Which way do you think was the correct course of action? It's nice to know but we knew Xabi wanted to leave anyway. But when the player admits it it can cause unrest if he stays. No point in admitting it until you know the deal will go through for definite.Forwards.......

I dont love Xabi or any other player in a Red shirt although Carra might be a grey area. But love the fans I guarantee he did as would most footballers who are adored the way Liverpool fans can lay it on ... Do you think Torres loves Liverpool fans .. I say he does .. thats not me being Naive thats me seeing with my own eyes the kind of adoration layed on these players which you will not get in most other football clubs.Originally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostAlonso said he would be happy what ever happened because there was a chance the deal would not go through. Look we are agreed on nearly everything. My issue is the need to find a bad guy .... theres no bad guy .. **** happens .. Its not like we got ****ed .. for whatever reason he wanted off .. his agent ... our people .. real's people were all scrambling for leverage .. **** the fans ... he probally knew as much as we all did ... I like the guy, rate him massively as a footballer and I hate to see players pass and present being abused with names when they have done nothing to deserve it ... Run your contract down, leave the club in a weak negotiating position and leave giving the club who made you nothing eventually joining our Arch rivals would be far more deserving of some of the contempt shown hereAnybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt.
