time to forget about alonso - i was standing in the Kop on the last day of the season when Sami led the lap of honour - all Alonso gave the Kop was a small wave......not the gesture of a man who preaches love for the Liverpool fans who adored him.

It's all interview bull**** from xabi - good luck to him in the next stage of his career, but IMO he was just a player who served us well in his time with us - certainly no legend like for eg. Souness, Kenny, Robbie or Sami - Onwards and Upwards

Agreed. But Rafa only attempted to sell him because he needed the funds for Barry and he was the only saleable assest. I'm sure in an ideal world he would have sold Lucas over him, or none at all.
      Forwards.......

He'd have no reason to bull****, he's gone and he's where he wants to be.

There's no reason for him to say anything. I think he's said what is simply true.

not doubting that for a minute and our team would still be better for a mediocre alonso in the team.

it still worries me that our only long term option if aquiliani breaks down is lucas.

agree - but it sticks a bit in my throat about the way he wants to keep hold of his halo in all of this, but as you say - he is where he wants to be.

I'm sure Craig H, you're exactly like me - pool though and through - i just hate the way these guys waltz in and waltz out of the club - and profess to "love" the place......... Ah well, hope Aquilani can provide something new for us.......

i know, don't think plessis or spearing are anyway near good enough for a premiership run in the team

To be fair mate, he wasnt a Liverpool fan before he came.

He may well have developed a fondness for the club and the fans, based largely on how appreciated and valued he was. Once he no longer felt that, it's not surprising that he'd suddenly wonder whether he wanted to still be here.

Especially as a foreigner who'd been here for 5 years. He gave us a lot, it's not as if he bailed out after a year or two.

That's not remotely what i'm doing. I'm believing what looks believable to me.

Why would i 'want' to believe Alonso or side with him over Rafa and the club?

Players come and go. Hes gone now and People seriously need to move on.

He wanted to leave, and hes not bigger than the club.

many players left us before.. Keegan, Rush, Owen and Mcmanaman etc...

However u need to move on because Liverpool Football Club is Very Special and Big Club and we never rely on a single player no matter what anyone says.

Who's saying what, to suggest that they doubt this?

we'll get over it - but you're right it was a bit **** seeing him in all white....but no one man is bigger than the team - let's get behind all our players, (including Lucas) - at the end of the day we all want no 19..... i just hope our current squad is capable of delivering

The comments also hints at Xabi doing what Rafa wanted, until he had to stay home when his kid was born....Rafa got the hump and wanted to replace him with Barry.
Xabi didn't dig that, which is fair enough.
