The increased revenue streams will primarily be used to reduce the debt. Next summers transfer budget will come from the sale of Mascherano.

I am not believing anyone for that matter. I'm just incensed by how so called 'experts' jump of their seats at everything he says. I for one believe the club are dealing with the financial side of things in the good way, but I know **** all about Finance so I'll reserve judgement on how sound we financially are or not.Originally posted by Daniel mote View PostJust cant believe that someone can believe a word hicks has to say. All we needed was a little investment in the summer and there was a very good chance we could be seeing number 19 come home.
It would have been nice if we could outspend the likes of Man. City etc ... but we don't live in an Alice in wonderland world you know. I'll be curious to see where would be Man. City in 10 years time.

Yeah right. And do you think their business plan of attracting the best sponsors etc ... would stand good without us being more competitive on the playing side of things?Originally posted by cream View PostThe increased revenue streams will primarily be used to reduce the debt. If ever Mascherano does leave, it will be with Rafa's blessings. Same thing happened to Alonso. I for one don't think losing Mascher will be detrimental to our side. If we can get £40m plus for him next summer, I'll bite anyone's hand if they offer that kind of money.

But we did get a new shirt sponsor which may, or may not give Rafa an extra £5m to spend on new players (or contract extensions).Originally posted by Daniel mote View Postwe didnt have to spend like man city, we came a close second all we needed was the final push. but what did we get. ZERO NET TRANSFER SPEND. Or are you happy with this situationBrandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

Do you think united or Arsenal fans are happy about finishing with a profit? Or Chelsea about spending only pocket change?Originally posted by Daniel mote View Postwe didnt have to spend like man city, we came a close second all we needed was the final push. but what did we get. I don't like the guy either, but it's bollocks to write him of as destroying our summer unless you're trying to say he caused the global financial meltdown and the sudden influx of cash to the market from RM and City.

Happy or not that's the situation as it is. We're not too bad I think, we lack a bit of depth but that's it. Quality wise, we're as good as anyone in this league. We've got the PL's best two players in Gerrard and Torres.Originally posted by Daniel mote View Postwe didnt have to spend like man city, we came a close second all we needed was the final push. but what did we get. Would have been great to have signed David Villa, but was that ever realistic?

got to agree 40 million for mascarano would be a fantastic deal( as long as rafa got the money).Originally posted by fredo View PostYeah right. So Johnson and Aquaman were not investments ? or do you mean 30m in for Alonso so give Rafa another 20m so he spends 50m ?Originally posted by Daniel mote View PostJust cant believe that someone can believe a word hicks has to say. Apart from City, did any club actually spend more than 20m this window. I think most clubs only spent what they could generate in sales. Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

It depends on how the situation arose. If it was because the money went on the debt, then no. If it was because Benitez said the player I want costs more than we have and because of all this RM & Citeh BS, so I'll save it for next year, then yes.Originally posted by Daniel mote View Postwe didnt have to spend like man city, we came a close second all we needed was the final push. but what did we get. Shades of gray mate, shades of gray. From the outside we can't be sure and can only guess.
Not necessarily saying the doom merchants are wrong, just get sick of it being chucked down our throats constantly as a certain fact at every possibly opportunity.

I expect him to go too. Don't think we'll be too bad without him. Maybe with the money we can finally sign Villa and bring back Gerrard in central midfield.Originally posted by Bender View PostMascherano will be a Barcelona player next season.......they intend to sign Mashcerano and Fabregas
