ok ok he's not really in the same league as God, but at times against Burnley I had flashbacks of Fowler in the way Benni played.
He could have had six goals against Burnley. Not only was he quick and agile in making and receiving passes, he was the most "forward" thinking of all our attacking players. At times he played the creator, at times the clinical finisher and at times he was in the position of the classic goal-poacher.
He threw himself into a diving header and was unluckly, he wasnt offside for the dissallowed goal - Kuyt and Torres were, Benni was in the best position tho'
When Gerrard went on that mazy little jink and hit the post, who was moving in the box waiting for the pass - Benni - ahead of Kuyt and Torres who were ball watching.
I know its a lot to ask and realistically there is no comparison to Robbie at all, but if Benni could put in that level of effort with the same attacking instinct week in week out playing up front just off Torres, he could make a massive difference to us this year.
When a player plays like that consistently, its like having another new striker that we have craved. And yes, that would mean Stevie playing in midifield, but as with the Burnley game, I think Benni playing as he played could be a major cog in drawing Gerrard into good scoring/assist positions also.
There's my tuppence worth :-)
