I think he may have stood out in peoples eyes because the right side had to deal with the pacy Illunga and Hines.
Im with you. I thought he was okay today and generally is a good player but his play in the final 3rd let him down a bit today. Kept rushing his crosses and played a few bad balls

      Rafa interview, post match:

Asked if he felt Torres was THE best striker in the league, Benitez said: "If he continues to plays like today, I'm sure he will be one of the best.

"When you talk about the Premier League, you talk about a lot of players with quality, so it's hard to pick just one. But I think he is one of them.

"We are happy because it's not just what he does on the pitch. He is very professional and a nice lad. Like I say he is a good player."

FFS Rafa! Torres IS the best striker in the league, surely

Good result today. I thought Mascherano was excellent. back to the sort of form you expect from him.
First game the lad started apparently. I just thought he showed a lot of maturity. We should keep an eye on him. I'm with you on Masch, thought he was excellent today.

Great 3 points today, it's amazing how dominant we were, yet how close it turned out.

Set pieces aside, we'd muller most teams. But we just cannot deal with set pieces. Still not conceded a goal from open play this season, amazing stat. Yet, corners for the opposition are almost as good as penos at the moment.

Part of me thinks surely we'll sort this out and once we do, we're sorted. Yet, it's still showing no sign of being sorted.

Brilliant atmosphere in the away end too, hardly stopped singing and even the idiotic engineering works on the tube didnt dampen the mood.

          Great stuff from Nando

Torres looked to be back to his proper self which was nice.

Defense was arse but if we are going to have attacking fullbacks we need to play the same back four and two shielding midfielders for a numbe of games to get relationships sorted. We were crap at set pieces again. I don't think Torres should be asked to attack a near post zone although given the number of midgets in the team it is hard to decide who should.

Torres looked like a man on a mission. Great to see.

It was a long free kick which was successfully converted.

Nah, it was pumped forward from a freekick.

Same here but today was particularly frustrating.

One great moment for me was Fernando sprinting back late on and doing a perfect sliding hook challenge to win the ball. Magic. Thta is why the boy will become a legend for this club.

I know exactly the tackle that you are talking about. It was immense and any defender would be proud to put that one on their resume. It was one of the stand out moments for me as well.
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

Well Craig_H, Torres is probably going to sit out one of these league matches now and then, so it's not that ridiculous an idea, considering he was **** before this match. He gave a response befitting his status as one of the best strikers in this league, long may it continue. We need a good Torres week in week out. I think it was a fitness thing, not a motivational one.

Fredo, we've got Hull at home next weekend. Which game do you think is easier and is therefore one which we're more likely to win without him, Hull at home or West Ham away?

Bearing in mind he probably wont play at Leeds and that yesterday will have given him a confidence boost, i dont think Rafa will rest him for Hull either, but if it had to be done, that's the game to do it - not West Ham away, which we only just won WITH Torres playing and on fire.

Agreed. Give him a rest in midweek, and let him run rings around Hull.
