    Nice one PTP

Spot on except benny, we really need a striker and a left winger.

Silva for left winger, but could we really get him?

Striker, not sure who would fit the bill tbh.

Carlton Cole would be nice - would help with the home grown quota thing too

Ideal world - if we sold dossena, voronin and babel and a few randomers raising say £15m and somehow found another £20m in a bin bag, and brought in two players (eg purely for arguements sake in this thread left wing silva, up front carlton cole) then our squad would be pretty much bob on

But - the money is not there it seems! - thats why we have to just hope that say babel, finds this promise/talent/potential he is supposed to have and gives rafa a headache for the left wing/up front spot.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Dont rate him myself, doesnt bag enough goals imo.

        Wouldnt mind getting Darren Bent.

I would keep Babel for another year and have it make or break for the lad, shown a few glimpses of improvement this past week, i think he plays his best stuff up front as well which, if he continues to progress, could fill the space for a striker, and allow us to spend more on a left winger like silva.

Whilst Ngog has shown improvement we really need another, IMO experienced, striker to cover for Nando. I really rate Guiza and think he would be excellent for us.

agreed - not great but gets goals - cost a fortune tho

Despite his clear missed chances last night, anyone here think Jermaine Beckford could do a job as a back-up striker? Personally I haven't seen anything of him before yesterday but he is clearly very highly rated and it seems it is only a matter of time before he plys his trade in the PL.

I get the feeling a lot of people (including the Leeds fans in the pub last night) have their reservations about his mentality and consistency. Obviously he has scored a lot of goals though. Wasn't convinced that he had any attributes that made me think he would make the transition up to being a good let alone top PL player.

In my FM2009 game, i managed to sign Liedson from Sporting Lisbon for about £4m. He played 22 games in total (only 12 starts) and scored 9 goals

I then sold him to Sunderland the following summer, for £6m

For me he's the type of player who prefers to be a big fish in a small pond, rather than an up and coming squaddie, his ego couldn't handle that.

It would be very easy to dismiss our entire second string based on last nights performance, but that would be by only watching the highlights and looking at only the surface.

Anyone who even bothered paying any attention to the game would soon realise that all of Leeds attacks came down our left hand side, against a player who we all know by now is not cut out to play as a LB in England.

Had we played Aurelio at LB and Plessis in CM (or dropped Spearing back and played Voronin) we would have looked a lot stronger, as Snodgrass would not have had the freedom to roam forward and take us to the cleaners.

After seeing last nkight and going on what I already knew, I think my opinion on our squad remains the same. We would struggle big time without Torres, and to a lesser extent Gerrard. But as they are our only two world class attacking talents we would have to spend a fair old whack in order to not miss them. However, if anyone else was missing I think we have enough to get by.
