Funny thing is... I don't actually think we played that well! Hull seemed to give up when the third went in. Gerrard was actually very quiet in the first half. Torres will get the MOM award but I thought Insua was excellent again.

I haven't seen the incident but its only a 3 match ban for a straight red for violent conduct.

Excellent day. Hull are ****, but we still mullered them. Torres is on another planet to anything in this league.

Torres is the best striker in the world. Today he was just phenomenal, made that look like a game of 5-a-side with his mates. So much composure and skill. We're starting to click at the right moment. If Aquilani can come in and make us an even more attacking side and Babel can continue to make an effort then maybe the league's ours for the taking? Credit to everyone today, although Skrtel needs to sort himself out.

The game against Chelsea next weekend is the most important game of the season in my opinion, we're the two strongest sides in the Premiership and I'm sure we can beat them at Anfield. A draw or a win at Stamford Bridge and I'll be really happy.

I didn't see the match so Can anyone tell me where Babel played when he came please.

Looking at the subs used, Babel came on for Torres in a 4 4 2 and the next was Voronin for Yossi so was Babel a striker or did he play RM?

                    Cheers

Thanks Reece. A good return from Ryan so hopefully we'll see more of him playing up front.

I'm not sure he should get much credit for the second but his work in the build up and finish for his first was top class. The header he missed was pretty amusing. I think maybe he has modeled his game too closely on Henry.

It was. Also the pass that Lucas fired at him is worthy of note too. A penetrative ball, played with pace and to feet. Babel's touch/lay-off was class but he used the pace on the ball imparted by Lucas' pass. Very good.

I'll leave the Lucas subject as I think I have done it to death elsewhere

I've been critical of Babel but it is noticable that now he is working harder and that the hard work gets him into better positions. His touch seems to improve with confidence too (as Kuyt's has). I hope he has taken on board the lesson about how hard work can help you to make the most of your talent and minimise the impact of your failings. If he continues along in this vein then I will be forced to revise my opinion of him.

I guess you could read it as further justification of Rafa's seeming feeling that players come of ages between 21 and 23 rather than younger as many seem to feel.

Was delighted to see Babel's goal because by god did he need one, for confidence. Especially after missing that header

His touch out wide to Kuyt was lovely, but what was even more impressive was the desire he showed to get himself into the box and on the end of the cross. Some players would've just stood back admiring the pass.
