Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Hard to believe considering we’re apparently so negative, especially in Europe.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostApparently we are going for a Champions League record tonight, having scored in each of our last 22 CL games. Another goal tonight and the record is ours. Amazing stuff really.
Can anyone remember the last 0?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I would happily take a 0-0. Obviouisly I'd prefer to win and prefer to score to match Bayern's goal record, but I think a clean sheet should be our No.1 priority.Originally posted by Scratch View PostI see Fiorentina have never been beaten at home by English opposition...well, records are made for breaking eh??If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Pessimistic? Most posts I’ve read are claiming that we should rest players because we’ll still win easily.
Although I also predicted 1-1 in the predictions thread, it’s the first time I’ve ever predicted us not to win. It’s not that I don’t think we can win, it’s just because we don’t need to win.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Unlike those who as Neil Young has pointed out seem to have mistaken this game for the League Cup I really think we should be looking to play our strongest team and to win. We have found form but not been tested in the last few games. We need to start forging a team ready for all games and the Fiorentina and Chelsea games could be key to that.
Added to that I really prefer us to be able to coast the last few games in the CL. That way we both get to rest players as the season gets into the being a slog phase and we can also potentially give games to some young players."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Mutu isn't too worried by the sound of things...
Fiorentina v Liverpool: Adrian Mutu says beating Liverpool is no longer a big deal
Adrian Mutu believes Liverpool can no longer be considered the unbeatable side they once were and insists he and his Fiorentina team mates are more than capable of winning tonight's Champions League clash at the Stadio Artemio.
The former Chelsea striker, who moved to Florence in 2006 after he was infamously sacked from Stamford Bridge for testing positive for cocaine, is confident his side can take advantage of a Merseyside club who he claims are showing signs of vulnerability.
"Once upon a time, beating Liverpool would be a famous win and you could make a fuss, but no more," the 30-year-old said. "Since I have been in Florence, the team, the club and the whole environment have grown to the point where we can now beat anyone in our stadium."
And despite Fernando Torres scoring eight league goals for Liverpool in their opening seven matches, Mutu insists Fiorentina have made no special plans as to how they will control Rafael Benitez's most dangerous players.
"I am sure we will not make special plans for Fernando Torres or Steven Gerrard, that is not our style," he added.
When asked about his cocaine abuse as a young player, for which he was ordered to pay Chelsea £15 million in lost transfer fees, Mutu said: "I can’t pay such a sum. It is not a question of will, it is simply that I am not capable. I am devastated. Away from the pitch it affects me on a terrible personal level.
“I think I have amply paid for an error of youth which is light years away from the man and footballer I am now. But I am being pursued, and there is nothing I can do.”
With a lifetime ban hanging over his head, the Romanian added: "When I am playing I can think of the football and nothing else, but it is a very difficult situation. I hope that we can find a solution because it is a horrible thing to have over you."
I'm getting more and more up for tonight now - bring it on
