Personally I find this whole knee jerk to anyone saying anything vaguely positive about Xabi an embarassment

If he misses us that much then maybe he shouldn't have bleated on about the tax rate and about how worse off he'll be on his 60k (I have no idea how much he was on) a week when most fans struggle to afford to go to games, asked for a move straight after the end of the season and got his head down and stayed.
**** me he wanted to leave and now he is pining about leaving.

Grow some balls Xabi and come out and say I wanted to leave, I wanted to join Madrid and now I'm really happy because I got what I wanted. Simples

So I guess it's not possible to want to leave and still miss some aspects then.

              I doubt that's true.

i like to hear about xabi. i'm still a fan of his and watch him play for real whenever i can. he is a joy to watch as a neutral.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

I was watching the real madrid game last night and its obvious they dont know how to use him.

They played him in a midfield containing guti and gago so its obvious they still dont know his strengths.

He didnt exactly play brilliantly either so even though its early on.

Since when was Xabi's move to Madrid about them getting the best out of him??
Alonso moved because he wanted to play in Spain and Madrid would have paid him loads to do so, Madrid bought him because they needed a high profile Spanish signing after spending fortunes on 'foreigners' like Ronaldo, Benzema and Kaka. They also only bought him after they couldn't buy Villa or Silva

Good, let that be a lesson to any sucker wanting to leave the Greatest Football Team in the world, the grass is not always greener on the other side (but maybe the money is )
                        We come not to play.

                            Bull****

he left because rafa treated him like ****.

They wanted him because no one can control the tempo of a match like he can. They know he's brilliant at what he does but they dont know yet how to get the best out of him. Its simple - Real madrid arent a team - theyre a bunch of ego driven individuals.

                            he isnt

So Real madrid aren't a team but they bought Alonso to get the best out of them?? surely you've contridicted yourself there.

Rafa didn't treat Alonso like **** he treated him like what he was which was a player for Liverpool FC.
FFS this has been gone over a thousand times, Rafa had a pop/tried to sell him/wasn't happy with his form over the last 2 seasons, Alonso played well eveyone won out of the situation, Alonso wanted to leave and asked to leave Rafa got the best price he could move. ****ing. on.

You are deluded if you think Alonso would still be here if Rafa had stuck his tongue so far up his ass it came out of his ear.

I guess Ronaldo left because of how Fergie treated him.

Frankly you're talking nonsense. No player has a God-given right to be in the team and I'd rather back the manager's assessment than an internet forum drone.

He did have many excellent games for us but he also had many indifferent ones.

For all his brilliance at controlling the tempo if the game, as you put it (and I'm unsure how that would be evaluated objectively - does it mean a team always wins if he gets the tempo right?) it's usually always forgotten now that he was an out-and-out defensive midfielder. He had minimal input at the sharp end of the pitch and it's worth digesting the salient point that his three assists out of our 77 league goals last season was just one more assist than that provided by Pepe Reina, a goalkeeper.
