The Spearing thing is just silly, totally agree with the OP. I'd love Spearing to be good.... but he'll turn out about the same level as Danny Guthrie I reckon. Its just become a case of "anyone but Lucas" for some fans. However we really haven't got any better options right now IF Rafa is going to insist on playing with 2 "holding" players.
      Poor mans momo.

or how bad can Spearing be if he is being kept out by someone as bad as Lucas? ( in some peoples eyes of course )

I really thought Plessis had potential. I feel he is the sort of player who needed a loan to help him along and he does appear to be regressing and he was never at the level to really be thought of as a genuine first team contender to start with.

I thought that he was from the wirral? he's a wool, same as SG and Carra, don't think we've had a scouser since Fowler

Carragher's from Bootle, and Gerrard's from Kirkby.

I'd also try farm Spearing out on loan to a Premier League team too, a team like Wolves, Bolton or Birmingham, But i doubt that'll happen because he fulfils our quota of home grown players.
                We come not to play.

                    Spearing's definitely from the Wirral...he's a wool.

Totally agree with the OP though...this clamouring for Spearing is ridiculous. He's ok at best...and not as good as Lucas. Ergo, he doesn't play.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Yet another CM? Is he injured?

i have no idea whether Spearing is better than lucas, I dont think he is right now......but i wish he would have had 48 games in the first team to improve his game!!!!
He hasn't had 48 appearances because he hasn't shown himself good enough to be selected.

He's a reasonable squad player but I won't be surprised if he doesn't make 48 appearances in all his Liverpool career. I suspect he's another John Welsh and a career a division or two down beckons

You really think that's all it's down to?

Lucas will most likely not be as good as Aquilani and Mascherano - but will probably still play.

Speaking as a Scouser, I can assure you that being a Scouser is not restricted to the city of Liverpool. While all people born in Liverpool are Scousers, not all Scousers are from Liverpool. Being Liverpudlian is not the only definition of a Scouser.

It's all about a shared background, heritage and accent. Therefore those from the Wirral, whether Jay Spearing today or Jason McAteer in the past, along with others that spring to mind like Carragher and Gerrard, of the current team and the likes of Phil Thompson, Terry McDermott, Roy Evans etc are as much Scousers as Fowler and McManaman and, indeed, myself being born and raised in within the city limits.

                              edit -
                              Isn't our Jay from Birkenhead?
Birkenhead, Like Seacombe is practically Liverpool. The only thing different is a mile of water in between.

Of course Carra's as much a scouser as McManaman, they're both from the same place
