We're playing poorly away from home. Thats down to Rafa and the players.
    We come not to play.

Like I said, if it meant that in the long term we would benefit (on and off the pitch) I would settle for a season or two of not doing so well in the league.
Given the choice, would you rather win the league with the current owners, or not win it without them?

Sounds like a case of nose-cutting and face-spiting to me.
      Oh I don't know.

Are you crazy?!! Of course I would take the win with the current owners!! If we did win it with them in charge it would be inspite of them not because of them.

It sounded like that's what you said. Like you say, crazy.

The thing is though that I don't see why Gillet felt the need to make these comments. It's pretty unhelpful and self serving. I really wish he would see that there is some value for him personally in just keeping quiet and treating some of the accusations levelled against him and Hicks in a dignified manner and allow the way the team and business perform to speak for them.

Coming out like this just makes him look less classy and more of an egotist and helps no one at the club. It certainly doesn't really help his credibility with any supporters.

It is a fair point what happens on the football side is and should be the responsibility of Rafa and the players. However complaining after a few games is playing into the moronic tabloid obsession with short term results. It was clear that we didn't have the cash in the current market to go out and get a ready made replacement for Alonso without some sort of injury or other concern to reduce the price. Equally it is clearly true that only Real and Bareclona did have the funds to go for those sort of targets. So there is truth in what Gillet says but he is still a **** for saying it in the public domain.

I suppose the massive debts and failure to build a new ground are Rafa's fault too.

                    How predictable.

What a merry go round Liverpool Football Club is at present. Towards the end of last season this was all forgotten about due to a serious title challenge for once. Now we've hit a bad patch and it's all over the media and these forums once again. No doubt if we have a good week after the internationals all this will be put to one side once more.

The main point is what has already has been said. The two Yanks will not leave until they get an offer they deem suitable. Not a minute sooner. With the market in this state and the crazy price tag of our club I wouldn't expect a change of ownership any time soon.

I feel let down by the Yanks for reasons I've mentioned many a time before and do want them out. But I'll not be holding my breath.
                    Forwards.......

Dave, whilst you make a fair point about the need for the commnt in public, he has a right to have expectations. He saw a good season last year coupled with a poor start this season with mistakes on the pitch. I have to agree with the other comment though that the mistakes and tactics side of things on the pitch are Rafa's and the players responsibility. GG just doesnt help matters.

I guess this will test out the comment on the other thread that GG should be more vocal in the media now.

Wonder if, when GG had an impromptu chat with this SOS fella, he knew that his alleged comments would be splashed all over the net within minutes, or did he assume that he was just chatting on an "off-the-record" basis?

I agree totally. I have no problem with him having expectations and I would expect him to be talking to Rafa and others on the football side about what they thought was going wrong. I just think that he shouldn't use Rafa as a scapegoat. His arguments about us investing as strongly as other teams is possibly fair and if he feels the need to say anything in his and Hicks defense it should stop at that. Criticising the manager in public is the sort of thing you expect from the owner of Newcastle and to me at least is a further sign of how removed G&H are from the way Liverpool fans (and football fans more generally) perceive things.

I worry for the time when Rafa isn't here, and h&g are.

                                Scratch, nail and head.

SOS are heaping more **** onto our club by posting this **** - it was obviously going to be picked up by the media.
