The chavs have dropped points to Wigan, and the mancs to Burnley and Sunderland. Personally, I think thats a big difference.
I like your style CincyRed, never quite thought of it like that - i think the rent boys may struggle when the African Nations Cup is on, taking into consideration they can't sign anybody. and the mancs look like they could drop points too - we're still in the mix. But we really need to bounce back from this game..........fooking hate this international break ****e - i really wish we had the sunderland game this weekend - i'm on eggshells praying SG and El Nino come back with no probs.......

All that means is that we've dropped more points than our main rivals.

I think it's actually good.. we've lost 2 games in 1 week.. which is pretty devastating

Exactly. The fella's talking ****e there in fairness.
I don't give a **** what people are saying about Spurs this season, we're a better team than them and should have picked up a point.
Villa at home, well that was an horrific showing but even if we managed a point, wouldn't have been a major disaster.
Chelsea away, i don't think either side did enough to win so we were unlucky not to go home with a point.
So even if we drew them three games, it wouldn't be so bad but we're putting massive pressure on ourselves now.

Carragher has come under fire from some critics following some below-par performances from the normally reliable defender.

The Reds have struggled to keep clean sheets this season and have conceded 12 goals in eight Premier League games this term.

But Carragher is determined to get back to his best and help Liverpool rediscover their defensive strength.

"We aren't playing well as a back four and I'm not playing well personally," Carragher told the club's official website. "I need to hit better form and hopefully that will come in the next few games"

"Over the last five or six years we have been renowned as a team who have kept a lot of clean sheets and for keeping it tight. I think that's why we get a bit more criticism because people don't expect it of Liverpool - and rightly so.

"We take the plaudits when things are going well so you have to take the criticism when it's not going well.

"I know I need to improve myself and we also need to improve as a team."

Liverpool have endured a difficult start to the season, losing three of their opening eight games and Carragher admits it has made their bid to win the Premier League title even tougher.

No side has won the championship after losing three of the first eight league games since Manchester United in 1967, but Carragher is refusing to be pessimistic about Liverpool's chances of finally ending their long wait for the title.

"You can shape statistics to make them look however you want them to," added Carragher.

"We've now got the same points as Manchester United had at this point last season. That's another statistic you could look at because they went on to win the league with 90-odd points.

"Whatever statistic you throw at us, we know we haven't made a good start. We don't need to look at them because we know ourselves that we haven't performed as well as we would have liked in certain games. We now have to put that right.

"Points are what matter and how many you end up with at the end of the season. We've lost six games in our previous two Premier League seasons.

"To lose that many in 76 games - that's some achievement and yet we still haven't won the league. Man United have lost more than us and won the league for the past two years.

"So as far as we are concerned it's now all about getting points on the board

                  Back on topic:

I think we have a strong first XI when everyone is fit. However we lack replacements in key areas. The obvious place is cover for Torres. With a cash injection I would buy the best available striker who would be happy to work for a place in the team.

Next priority would be another midfielder in the Aquilani mould. We have Lucas and Masch who can cover the CDM position, but we need someone to link the play. If Aquilani is first choice then he needs some competition.

Those two additions would give us a very strong squad, depending on how well they adapted and of course it also depends on how Aquilani does. Degen would also be out the door and I'd look at bringing in cover for Johson

Looking at improving the first team now.

Harsh as it sounds, I would probably ship out Aurelio (injury prone) and Dossena and look to bring in a top quality LB. A tough battle for Insua but that's what the top level is all about. I would hope for the new LB to bring the same attacking style Johnson has brought to the right flank.

After that I'd be looking ad adding pace and flair to our flanks - something our current crop lack. A young CB would also be in my sights, a player I would have liked in the summer ahead of the greek had our funds not been so tight.

So to recap. A new Striker, central playmaker, left back, right back, wide player and centre back.

We're talking the best part of £80m there. A lot of money, more if we went for the top level players in every position - Not something I feel we need to be very competitive - but of course the ideal scenario.
