    Torres Injury

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres had to withdraw early from Spain's training session this evening after complaining of discomfort in his groin.

The national team's medical staff have said that the injury is not serious and the decision for his early departure from the session was purely precautionary, according to Spanish publication AS.

Coach Vicente del Bosque is already without the services of Torres' strike partner David Villa, who withdrew from the squad after suffering a hamstring injury in Valencia's 1-0 win over Racing Santander at the weekend.

Fenerbahce striker Daniel Guiza is also a doubt for the game with fluid in his knee so Del Bosque will hope to have Torres fit for selection as La Furia Roja aim to end European Qualifying Group Five with a 100 per cent record.

Spain have already qualified for next summer's World Cup in South Africa as group leaders and face trips away to Armenia and second-placed Bosnia in their remaining fixtures.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez will be keen to have his prized asset return safely to Merseyside after international duty. Torres has been in electrifying form for the Reds so far this season, scoring eight goals in just seven Premier League games.

Probably because in our system Torres runs his arse off chasing long balls he has no hope of winning and challenging back making slide in tackles from behind ala west ham away and putting yet more pressure on his already overworked and slightly fragile leg muscles.

Oh and because I'm convinced we've been cursed. I blame Istvan Kozma.

Torres injury threads should specify the extent of the injury in the title, to save people from having heart attacks.

Just a precaution it would seem, I'm all for our players not playing unnecessary and pointless friendlies.

its a fake, they're through and torres is being rested for LFC.

Devastating news if Torres gets injured but we'd only have ourselves to blame in terms of it leaving us without any back up.
I still can't believe how thin on the ground we are upfront.

I dunno why people are getting peeved with this.

It's obvious that he's not really injured and we're protecting him from a pointless game, with the Spanish co-operating with us. It's good news.

Shame England wont play ball with Gerrard too.

He hasnt left or been withdrawn from the Spain squad, it was a training session. He'll start on the weekend especially with no Villa.

Shock horror, Agger had to sit out training! And no doubt Denmark will now play him for 180minutes over 2 games.
