    hope I'm not tempting fate but he's been imperious tonight - so far kept out Uruguay on his own, been kicked from pillar to post too.... they'd dance past Veron only to meet the 'wall' Higuain and Messi invisible..

    GOOOOOOL Argies 1-0 Palermo simple tap in after Caceres got sent off...

    looks like they're going to South Afriica and Urugauy for the Play-Offs..

        I thought he was average, made a gaff in the 1st half about 23 mins in, cleared the ball to the touchline near the 18 yard box in his own half, to conceed a throw-in when the ball was near the half-way line. Veron played far better than him, and was throwing himself about, messi was average and so was Higuain. I've seen them play better. Uruguay apart from the 1st 5 mins, were they could have quite easily been 2up sucummed to the big game atmosphere. Argies are no match for the big guns in Europe or Brazil still.

          Maradonna as Argentina manager is just such an epic fail its untrue. This qualification has been pathetic.

          Haven't seen the whole game yet but Mascher just looked ok to me.

            Although I fell asleep with 15 minutes to go, I thought he was very good also. He broke up so much play and was always in the right place at the right time. If he played like that against United, I'd be very happy.

            I thought Veron was pish by the way 112. He wasted the ball so many times with wayward passes and offered very little else.
            If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

              Maybe in the 2nd half, but not in the 1st. Overrall, it was a piss-poor game of football, I still can't believe the wealth of talent that does not get into the Argie team or squad. Does any of it have anything to do with Maradonna being a Boca man?
