LFC TV tonight 9pm - Who was LFC Player of the 90's?

LFC TV tonight has a debate show asking which were the star performers of the 90's. There's a vote for best player, think I know who is going to walk that :P

To me the more interesting questions are for the individual positions. Keeper, Defender, Midfielder and Striker. Well maybe not so much the last one.

Ian St John will be taking calls so if you want to join in call:0845 234 4567 from 8:45 and have your say.

There's more about the program here:

If it's biggest contribution over the 90's it's almost certainly between Fowler and McManaman. They were the two who carried us for large periods of that time, and bothe played for ~7/10 years. The players who Houllier signed only came in in '98 making it difficult to vote any of them, most of the players who did well for us in the 80's had left except Barnes and Rush. Barnes did well in the early 90's when he played his more natural attacking role, but didn't have the same impact when he got older, Rush did well also but only played regularly for ~4 years before having alot of time on the bench. Owen could be another name mentioned but he only played for the last 2-3years of the 90's.

            If it's on positions then
GK: James - he was the mainstay of the 90's not much competition
Def: Really struggling with this one Probably Mark Wright he was the best of a bad bunch (could have been Rob Jones if he wasn't always injured)
            Mid: McManaman
            Str: Fowler
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

              Good post ER.

Forgot to mention the best caller of the evening will win a pair of tickets to next week's Champions League clash with Lyon at Anfield.

I used to love to watch Macca and Fowler in their pomp. I forget just how good McManaman was. Unplayable on his day.

Brought back memories did this. Pretty obvious as to who the winners were:

                        GK: Grobbelaar
                        DF: Jones
                        MF: McManaman
                        FW: Fowler

Sami was the 'best buy of the 90s'.

We had an awesome attacking team back in those days - Fowler, McManaman, Rush, Barnes, Berger, Collymore, Redknapp... if only we could've sorted our defence out. Plus we were so inconsistant - beat United, Arsenal and Chelsea, but we'd always lose to ****in Coventry or Wimbledon

Yes, things have certainly changed since then....

Seriously, though, that old blood and guts team with macca and fowler is what made me a red. Fell for them completely

I wasn't able to watch it, was that who the winners were? surely Grobbelaar was in there because of his form in the 80's he only played for about 2 seasons in the 90's and even then was in and out of the team (swapping with James)

I would have picked the same four I think.

Exiled Red was right abouth the injuries to Jones, but he was my favourite player as a kid os I'd obviously pick him every time.

Macca gets picked just for his displays against Bolton in the cup final and celtic in the UEFA cup.
                              Forwards.......
