Yes, the owners decides the budget while the manager buys the players. The manager also decides the tactics to use in everygame, involves in training the players, motivates the players and decides who plays in every game. So the buck stops with the manager and it is absurd to think that the owners would give Rafa a bottomless pit of resources to buy players when many of his signings are questionable. We need a fresh approach, yes Hiddink may be a good choice.

We can say a player is'nt good enough, but i just wonder who we'd have playing for us now had Rafa been able to sign his first choice targets in the transfer market all these years, which lets be honest is what Rafa's direct rivals are able to do.
Anyway, i'm not getting into this.
I advise most sensible people to stay away from this thread

I shouldnt have to. Its already so well known that we are very poor at set pieces that even commentators say it. People on these forums say it. A couple games ago I think it was that every goal we had conceded this season were all from set pieces. Seriously, I shouldnt have to back it up since its already known. Its like saying our defense is crap this season. I shouldnt have to go and dig out stats showing how often they failed tackles.Originally posted by tomasjj View PostNow why don't you dig out stats backing YOUR side of the argument yourself, seeing as I did my part?

This is something that I find amazing.Originally posted by vlahka View PostThe day we get a manager who can teach the team how to take bloody set pieces and defend against them, and also NOT pass the ball back to the goalkeeper every 5 minutes, I'll be a happy man.
Are there any other fans out there who feel more terrified than us when we concede a corner, and expect nothing when we take one?

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Is that true?Originally posted by tomasjj View PostAfter the Chelsea game the consensus was that we had played as well as them, but just didn't get the rub of the green or converted our chances.
Cue one week: 3 of our most influential players are out, Torres, Gerrard and Mascher. We lose to a freak goal, albeit deservedly so, and now Rafa should go?
Not yet. We have gradually improved in the league under Rafa. Let's see how the season pans out before pushing him off the cliff.
One of the things I will hold against Rafa is replacing our player of the season with someone who is injured for a 3rd of our next season, probably over-estimating Lucas in the process. Another is changing formation when the team is off form. Not a good idea. We need stability when we are struggling.
New owners would be nice, yes. New owners who don't pull the rug away from under the manager during the summer and. Do you think Rafa would have spent 17 mill on a full back if he knew had to balance the budget? I cannot know, but I doubt it.
And those who moan about set pieces, did you know that before last nights game we had scored 5 goals from corners, more than any other team in the PL?
Food for thought, check some facts instead of just wheeling out established misconceptions.

to the original poster, it's thoughtless reactions like sacking a manager after a bad month or two that have left the likes of leeds and newcastle in the ****......... that would be a stupid reaction to make to be perfectly honest.....
also, people go on about the amount of money that rafa has spent but in reality, he has sold a lot of players too and brought in a lot of cash as well - his net spend isn't that much for a team that has qualified for every champions league of the last 5 seasons...... the likes of spurs, newcastle, and even west ham at one point a few years ago have spent around the same as us.......for this reason alone, rafa would deserve a crack at spending big money if it came our way.......
Rafa is at a point where the next couple of months are make or break but he deserves a lot of backing - until at least the end of the season. A lot can change over a few games.... chelsea have lost 2 away games in a row and if we had the penalty we deserved in the first half at stamford bridge, then it is conceivable that they could have lost 3....
To the guy that wants hiddink or mourinho installed as manager......wake up..........hiddink wouldnt leave russia for chelsea so he's hardly going to leave us when russia are looking to get to the world cup......also, mourinho isnt going to leave inter in october/november either......it is so easy to say stuff like, "gewt mourinho, then sign villa, silva and higuain and then we can win the league" but seriously, think about what you are saying.....
at the end of the day, in rafa we have a manager that is 100% committed to the club. Most people would have ****ed off to Real Madrid or AC Milan after all the **** with the american owners. This is a man that also missed his fathers funeral to be with the team......it's disappointing that some "fans" have such short memories......
on another note, i do feel that Gerrard should have ruled himself out of the england squad immediately after the ukraine game..... the belarus match was a glorified friendly for **** sake........if he hadn't trained with england on the monday / tuesday, then it is likely that our captain would have made the sunderland match..... if that was Roy Keane in his manU days, he'd have ruled himself out and if the international manager wasnt happy, then **** him. LFC pays his wages and made him the player he is......he should put the club first.....

No other individual at the club can say they have been more committed to the club then Rafa, in all areas of the club over the last 5 years, and that includes Gerrard.

Iv only been following football for the last 4 years or so and I'm only 14. I don't know half as much about the Liverpool team as all you's do. I apologise again for angering anyone
