    exactly - a few years back, Chelsea signed that Ivanovic who whatver his name is for £9.5m!!! and didn't play him for two seasons or something stupid! - ****ing hell if we could do that. Thats what pisses me off - We are the medias favourite club! - its obvious - we are a massive club, with problems on and off the field, and as such we are the easiest targets for the media.

    All of the big four have made great signings, and all have made ****ing shocking signings - we are just unlcuky that, for us - if we went and signed someone for £5m today - it would be viewed as a big signing and they would be a first teamer. - The other clubs can do the same and not play him for 6 months and no-one would bat an eyelid.

    An example of this imo would be - had we signed owen on a free, it would have called as a massive and desperate gamble by benitez, United do it and it's a stroke of genius.

      Anderson is a very good player mate, not a flashy one. He's very underrated. He would have been ace in our team IMO.

          Thats not the issue though - he cost £17m and is basically a squad player for the mancs - we don't have £2m too spend on a squad player - a £17m player for us would be a ****ing superstar

            That's what we have been crying out for is it? Having proven international players of quality on our bench, that's why United have and that's why they have been champions for the last 3 years.

              Exclude torres, gerrard, rein and Johnson. For me, in the other positions we are now weaker than we were at about the time we bought mascherano.

                Bollocks Hansen, absolute bollocks.
                Agger = Always injured
                Reina = resounding success
                Benayoun = too inconsistent
                Skrtel = Jury is out - he's been way miss then hit this season
                Insua = A Rafa success story
                Kuyt = hit and miss, more hit
                Alonso= two good seasons and the rest poor
                We come not to play.

                  But even our first team isn't playing well enough at the moment.

                      Yes, but there's not much point looking to the bench for answers to our form this season.

                        Looking at it from a harsh reality point of view:

                        Agger - injury prone - would be one of the best in Europe if he could stay fit. Current value would be £10m max if we were lucky (IMO) purely because of his injuries.

                        Reina - an absolute success - legend in the making. Current value £20m+.

                        Benayoun - goes missing at times and needs to be more consistent. Current value £10-15m.

                        Skrtel - not yet convinced about him. Current value £10m max IMO.

                        Insua - progressing but for me his position is one that needs strengthening. Does not offer enough of an attacking threat and yet to score, but should easily have had at least a couple of goals this season. Current value £5 max IMO.

                        Kuyt - steady eddie, reliable and valuable team member, just lacks the craft but still likely to be in the right place at the right time. Current value £10-15m max IMO.

                        Alonso - sheer class as he is now consistently showing. His inconsistency with us was by and large due to some niggling injuries IMO and once fully fit he showed us last season what he is all about. We do miss him, no matter what is said Rafa built our style of play around him when he arrived and he was a pivotal member of our team. A massive loss on and off the pitch IMO. £30m was an excellent price though.

                        So, I reckon Rafa has done ok, not spectacuarly well.

                        As PTP said, the Chavs and Scum spend between 3 and 10m like it is nothing but we are not in that boat financially, therefore these types of signings have to have an impact for us. So in that respect I can sense the frustration in Hansens article.

                          Too much analysis. Hansen said Rafa hadn't had enough successes in the £3m-10m bracket.

                          Agger - success
                          Reina - success
                          Benayoun - success
                          Skrtel - success
                          Insua - success
                          Kuyt - success
                          Alonso - success

                            You forgot Arbeloa, he was a massive success really. From obscurity and into the Liverpool and Spanish first teams.

                                I think you could add Luis Garcia to the list as well, especially bearing in mind the impact he had in the CL the year we won it.
