        Alonso and Mascher were boss.

Even Gerrard is anonymous without him.

Alonso is the reason the season is ****ed.

He didn't want to be here.

Yeah he had a good year last year but what about before that? It seems to me he gets better with every match he doesn't play for us!

Besides wtf was Rafa supposed to when presented with a deal over 2x what he was after the year before?

Especially when it seems to be generally accepted around here that he has very little spare cash to spend (which is different to being allowed to spend what you make).

Its not so much we're missing Alonso, and a lot to do with playing Lucas week in week out with no subbing in between. Masch plays the Masch role, Lucas takes up a very important spot. Aurelio, Benayoun, Gerrard would offer so much more in that role.

But the important person who needs to see this, doesn't. And for that reason, he's out.

Alonso & Mascher were a very, very solid midfield, probably the best in the league. Alonso made Gerrard a better player too, they had a great understanding and Xabi allowed Gerrard to be unleashed. So far this season Gerrard has been completely anonymous.

I agree he wanted to go, and as you say "wtf was Rafa supposed to when presented with a deal over 2x what he was after the year before", but that money is going to pale in comparison to the amount we'll lose if we drop out of the CL in the first stage and fail to qualify for next seasons.

If we do drop out of the CL next season and Citeh get in, I'm telling you all now that we'll ****ing well struggle to get back in. Citeh will have the money and CL football to attract the best players and we'll have neither. From there on things could get very bad. The purse strings will tighten and the big money clubs will start to tap up our stars who will not be happy in the UEFA Cup....

True but that's not happened yet there are plenty more games to play yet.

I just believe that the team need to get their act together and make us say Xabi who?

No way should we sack Rafa now, who the hell would want that job??

I do feel for Aquilani tho' the pressure on him could be almost unbearable.

for the english game city are a good thing, why should the top four have a devine right to CL football? the fact there is a top four is part of the problem. the very fact that clubs are run based on being in the CL means you're always living on the edge. its a shame the league wasn't more competitive at the top end before the CL sham came along. as soon as it was opened to 3rd placed and 4th placed it ****ed it. basically it became better to be a nearly team than a winner such as winning either of the cups.

If more billionaires invest in our clubs they'll either open the CL to the top 8 or a european league will come into existence. my moneys on the latter.

There's no way clubs like us and arsenal will settle for not bringng in the money. all the games will be sold club by club on the internet. we'll be ok.

Aurelio was awful in that role. It would have to be Gerrard or Benayoun
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
