    I'm not worried....

Football is a game of extremes....

You win all is great, you lose all is shat....

Sure things are not going well at the moment, but they will get better....

The teams doing well will have their dips and bad run of form, and that will
probably be when we are in form...

We could very well lose on Sunday (we won't), but I will still not be worried, cause
    that is how football goes....

We could lose 5 straight games, and still win the league and the CL

We are LFC and we never give up, no matter what the odds....

    Have a little faith....

    Believe...

No doubt our performances this season thus far have been far from ideal and in all honesty i don't expect us to win either the league or champions league. However, i believe this season may turn out to be a very important one in our history.

The reason i say this is that there is (sadly) a distinct possibilty that we will miss out on a top 4 spot in the league and may also miss out on the last 16 in europe. I know its early days and i certainly will never give up hope but with our lack of depth and the improvement of teams below us, it will be a tough battle for us to achieve these 2 important aims. These 2 things which we have achieved every year under Rafa and every year with the Yanks as our owners.

So the question must be asked, keeping in mind our delicate financial position. What will happen if we fail to get out of the group stages and if we fail to qualify for next years champions league. The options:

    1) Will Rafa not be given funds for transfers? (Well that happened this summer, so thats probably a given regardless).
    2) Will we sell our best players? (Good luck to the Yanks if they try that, as they might have World War 3 on their hands).
    3) It will push our owners to sell up quicker than they had anticipated and get someone who can keep us competitive and get started on our new stadium which should ensure our financial security in the long term.

Obviously i am pinning my hopes on number 3 happening if we fail this season. Atleast then some good will come out of a season that offered so little on the pitch.

Ofcourse i am still hoping that we turn around our form and get back into contention in both the big competitions but i guess its always good to have a silver lining if all goes to hell on the field.

Like i said i am still hopeful but we also need to be realistic. Our squad depth is not great and when you are relying on the likes of Lucas, Ngog, Voronin and Babel to make significant contributions either off the bench or replacing injured starters then we shouldn't be stunned if we fall short.

I'm sat here at work fighting back the urge to bite somebody's head off after last nights game.

As you say 'yet'. It's also hard to relax when you're waiting to hear the news on Torres, Gerrard and Johnson, all with groin injuries (I believe) which doesn't bode to well really.

Let's hope Rafa is doing a Purple Nose and saying they are injured but when the team gets announced on Sunday they are there for all to see

This season could very well turn out to be a bit of a one off. All of the top 4 losing six or seven games. Not impossible. There's a lot of teams in the Prem who've got a number of good players and who can, on the day, turn a Chelsea, Liverpool or a Man Utd over. Fulham, Wigan, Stoke, Villa, Sunderland all spring to mind.

i said that a few weeks ago, the premiership will be won on the lowest amount of points for a long time in my opinion.

The same was said of last season though, and suddenly teams started winning games and going on long winning runs. Arsenal pulled together when it was too late, Hiddink didn't arrive in time to sort Chelsea out but improved, whilst Man Utd and Liverpool just didn't look like they would lose as the season came to it's finale.

I think that is certainly more or less how it will pan out. The big question for me is whether Spurs, Citeh or Villa can up their game and really push the top 4. I don't think it will happen this year but they certainly City will do it soon.

But there are a lot more question marks over all the top teams this year and without doubt other teams have got better.
