I never said as a direct replacement. Drop Lucas and play Bennie on right. I'd still have Riera ont he left for now as I think he has shown he can beat defenders and can create and is the best on the left weve got.

    Something like....

    ----------Aquilani--------Mascherano---------
    Benayoun----------Gerrard-----------Riera/Babel
    -------------------Torres---------------------

Or have Aquilani pushing on with Gerrard which I suspect will happen.

Our midfield is the biggest problem, too soft, can't dictate and go missing for big parts of the game. Last season we controlled 99% of games, this season the midfield can't control their own piss.

You know the fear i have is that Babel leaves us joins Arsenal and becomes the new Henry, maybe Rafa needs to read that book How to win friends and influence people.

i'd personally like to see us adopt a more 4-3-3 approach.

          gerard---mash---aquaman

          benni---torres---babel

steady up the centre midfield and offer more of an outright attacking force IMO.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Can't really see Wenger buying Babel after seeing him for us. We need someone like an Arshavin who can play across the midfield, can create and score goals and beat defenders.

On a positive note I thought Kelly looked good and lived up to his pre-season promise, he's a big strong lad with a big heart and I think could cement himself a place long term.

That's because we were playing at a frenetic pace whereas Lyon tried to slow the game. All the great Liverpool teams of the past played that way, especially away from home. Add to that the fact we're low in confidence. Doesn't mean anything.

Thought Dirk had an abysmal first half last night but a very good second half.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I think that will the case, Masch just slightly behind Gerrard and Aquilani. We just need 2 better players to play either side of Torres.

He does lack a delicate touch (ooo-errr), pace and the trajectory of some of his passes are about 30 degrees off but I think what he lacks Johnson can bring to the table and they can combine well.

                          Pathetic to single out Kuyt.

Yeah and then put Kuyt up front with Torres. Move Gerrard back into CM and put Yossi on the left.
                              Sounds good.

Kuyt should never play as a striker again, against Sunderland he was piss poor. More likely to score on the right than he is up front.
