if Torres was suprised then obviously he wasn't in pain at that moment or aware that he would have to come off.Originally posted by FatTony View PostExcuses if you ask me, Torres has been injured yes, but he looked surprised to be going off.
its also what it says to the rest of the team - take off the best players they must be deflated and it must give the oposition a boost.
could now argue we can rest Torres and co for the rest of the yearIts times like these we learn to live again FF

Well it ain't Madrid cos Valdano and Rafa hate each other so he won't be going there.Originally posted by andrewces38 View PostAfter watching that I just can't believe what I was seeing I can only put it down to this.....................Rafa was either keeping one eye on the Lyon game or he's watching the Real Madrid situation ,I can only describe today's decisions that as Kamikaze manager tactics,
Voronin played 90 mins ? how the **** is that possible , he was **** . Took Torres and Benni off ? how can he explain that ? looking at their reactions they were not injured.
Kuyt was woeful and thats a compliment , Carra and the Greek should never play together ,neither can pass, neither has pace and the communication must be ****ing brilliant to listen to.And has anyone told Masher he has a brilliant shot? and he should shoot at every oppertunity.
Rafa please explain today because I'm at a loss . Is it Real Madrid or Lyon?

Maybe Rafa feels we have time to make up for the gap in the league, whereas we cannot afford to lose against Lyon???
Anyway, pretty depressing stuff.

I was trying to bring a bit of humour to proceedings. As they say, if you don't want to cry, laugh instead.
On a serious note, i think we'll struggle to finish top 6."Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

Spot-on. To the supporters, the most important thing is winning the league but due to our large debts it's probably more important more important to get a good run in the CL, Rafa is simply protecting his own arse.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostI think after watching today's game and the last couple of seasons in general, Jamie Carragher is perhaps the most overrated player in Liverpool's history. He's being idolized like a world class defender when he wouldn't look out of place in a mid-table side, perhaps even worse than that. Granted he's had three very good season during Rafa's first years here but his reputation's been carrying him since. He's about as talented as Carles Puyol, and you don't see Barcelona counting on him week in week out. He'll obviously continue to be branded a colossus every time we play a top team, keep ten men behind the ball and wrap him up with cotton wool and extra protection wherever it's needed so he's never isolated with someone.
Mascherano is also vastly overrated, a completely useless player when we have the ball. Sometimes I wonder what's the point in having a defensive midfielder who can't pass the ball when two genuine central midfielders with a good work rate can make up for the lack of a "specialist".
Kuyt, as well. I still haven't seen Dirk Kuyt produce a performance when things aren't going well for the team. You never expect him to carry us, just add hard work to compliment our star players. He's our Ji-Sung Park and nothing more, maybe better finishing but even that's questionable. He's lovely when things go well of course.
The problem is that with the huge implications of us not getting into the next stage, I won't be surprised if it's become our policy to first concentrate on finishing 3rd/4th and going as far as possible in the competition that gives us the most money.Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

Can I have two?.................I reckon I could take out the Nevile's with a single shot from 500 yards with a buffalo riffleOriginally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostI think the solution is obvious. Each of us should be assigned the job of killing a pl player. when there's no one left but us and hull, we'll be champions.

1. fulham are not a **** side.
2. this is october - the league is not lost.
3. if we don't have our best players fit and ready for lyon AWAY we will lose and go out of the CL.
4. if we go out of the CL we categorically have no money to strengthen in january.
5. rafa had to make a call - trust his players to keep it at 1-1 and have torres and benayoun at their max for lyon AWAY or let them run themselves into the ground for a goal that may not come and not have that extra 10% in ther tank for ****IN LYON AWAY WHERE HIS CALL IS THAT WE HAVE TO WIN OR WE ARE OUT OF THE CL!!! SEE POINT 4!
6. horrible gutwrenching situation to be in with added injuries and bad luck. a day to forget but a few ins for us, a result against lyon and the odd dropped couple of points for the teams above us and we'll forget today. all is not well at LFC i know but we can't afford to sack rafa finacually anyway and why the **** do people think that kenny dalglish is going to turn this season, our finances and the ownership situatio around one third of the way through a season? it's sentimentality and premature desperation gone mad.Felching ≠ Gerbilling

Not good enough.Originally posted by redder View PostMaybe Rafa feels we have time to make up for the gap in the league, whereas we cannot afford to lose against Lyon???

We need to be close come January, could be out of sight by then. The league should ALWAYS take priority. It's what we are desperate for.
Look at it this way.
Gerrard was very doubtful for the Lyon game, yet played and got injured.
Johnson was doubtful for the Man Utd game, yet played the full 90 minutes. He failed to make the squad for the Fulham game.
Torres was doubtful for the Man Utd game, but had pain killing injections and lasted 80 minutes. With a whole week to rest he starts the game against Fulham, but got taken off after an hour. Rafa's reason? He's had pain killing injections. He had the same for the Man U game yet lasted 20 minutes extra.
In my mind it is very clear. Rafa placed greater emphasis on the Man Utd and Lyon games. Pretty ****ing stupid when all he and our players spoke about after the Manc game was how in reality all it was is three points, nothing more.
Well the Fulham game brings the same amount of points, but Rafa went with a weaker team and clearly took the game for granted. An absoloute disgraceful decision.Forwards.......
