No manager will find instant success with Liverpool, unless given unlimited amount of money. People are deluding themselves that we've got a god given right to win anything; life isn't like that. Unless you have money in football, that is practically impossible. What Rafa achieved with Valencia was exceptional and he had a fantastic bunch/core of players in which he could rely on.
We lost it in the 90's, when Keny lost it and packed it all in altogether. And some people have been pushing for him to come back.

This thread is not about sacking the manager. It is about our chances of winning the league. The manager should be judged at the end of the season, as he always should be.Originally posted by redder View PostNo manager will find instant success with Liverpool, unless given unlimited amount of money. He's starting to lose the fans though, and god knows what the players think.Originally posted by redder View PostNo manager will find instant success with Liverpool, unless given unlimited amount of money. I agree with most of your post redder, but he really didn't help himself in the summer of 08 with Keane, Dossena, Riera and N'gog (who I like). The first two are £27m worth of mistakes, which is fair enough, every manager has them, but he hasn't had the chance to make amends. We broke even last summer ffs, which is ridiculous. He's had his hands tied off the back of our best league seasonSack swinging like Dub-D40 on a door hinge

I recall distinctly that two seasons ago, and even last season, some deluded fools saying that LFC should get rid of Rafa. Yet, with the spending restrictions he has had this season, how the hell was team meant to improve? particularly after the sale of Alonso?
more players were required this season and the simple fact is that Rafa has not had the funds to improve the team, if anythign the team has gone backwards due to, what appear to be, spending restrictions. We needed a NET increase of of two international class players with one of them being a striker and that hasn't happened.October 15th 2010 - RED FRIDAY

We didn't lose it when Kenny walked out, we lost it when that cock Souness walked in.Originally posted by redder View PostNo manager will find instant success with Liverpool, unless given unlimited amount of money. Without listing them there were numerous other quality managers who could have kept that core of players at the top. We still had the best squad in the country when Souness arrived, and money to compete with anyone in England.

A lot of people need to take off the red tinted glasses. We are nowhere near the all powerful club we use to be. David Moores has seen to that from the day he stepped through the door in 1992. Rafa has made mistakes but he can only work with what the owners allow him to have. £20m a season for transfers is not enough when we have to compete with united, Chelsea and now man city.
This season has been an absolute disaster and it is only november 1st. This time last season we only had the 1 defeat in the league. Now we are out of the carling cup, out of the league title race on the back of 6 defeats out of 7 games and about to go out of the CL. Our season is ALMOST over and its only november.
Liverpool are screwed as we have two bloodsucking owners who are using LFC to pay off a massive loan and as a result we cannot compete on the transfer front and will never have a new ground IMO until they are both gone.
However rafa has to take alot of the blame for the footballing side of our problems as he is the man who signs the players and without our first team players we have nothing in reserve and look terrible without the likes of gerrard, torres and benni. He sold Keane after only 6 months at the club and never replaced him.
In the summer we were crying out for another striker who could partner torres and fill in for him when he was out and for the second summer in a row our transfers were not up to scratch.
Even with another manager in charge like hiddink he will still have to work under the same restrictions as rafa and we will still not be able to compete with the other teams in the league.

Yes, exactly the reason we lost to Fulham was because we don't spent enough money
Someone on another thread actually said our squad was weaker than Fulham's. What a load of bull**** that is, we are always looking for financial excuses or ownership issues as to why we do not perform yet the same people argue that Lucas, et al are good enough for Liverpool and then turn around and say we haven't spent enough money. It doesn't work both ways and Rafa does not get anywhere near enough out of these players (I don't want him gone but he needs to ****ing sort it out).

He also sunked up the best part of £30m on Keane and Dossena. Fair enough that he's not being given a bottomless pit of money, but fairs fair, why should he be given a no strings attached purse?Originally posted by 1979 View PostI recall distinctly that two seasons ago, and even last season, some deluded fools saying that LFC should get rid of Rafa. He's still spent £200m, half of which was recouped yes, but most teams do sell also, its not specific to LFC.
He's spent £100m on players from those he's sold, and been given another £100m on top basically and we still have only 1 world class striker, still rely on an ok striker playing on the wing, and all this with the best midfielder in the world already at the club.
His squad could be a lot better than it is, lets not make out otherwise.
"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."
I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

He's getting plenty of money in wages so I expect thim to justify his expense and turn it round.
