There is a difference between airing that view on a forum like this and directly abusing the player though I think. If nothing else it is counter productive.

In general though the increasingly determined search for a scapegoat is a bit much.

I haven't thought a great deal of Babel for a while but I don't really see why people would think swearing at him and telling him to **** off would do anything at all positive for anyone.

Fair points. Agree on all of the above.

I can see how telling some like Babel to **** off would be satisfying for about all of 30 seconds; a release of pent up frustration, but it's childish behaviour and as you said, whatever we think of Babel he doesn't deserve to be confronted with personal abuse on his social networking site.

I don't think what I said was abusive, if it was it, wasn't met to be. My comments were genuinely born out of frustration.

Here we are days away from a vital match and he's twitting about his music, I understand that it's his prerogative but come on.

It's obvious that he wants to be followed by Liverpool fans on twitter, why piss them off?.

I was delighted when we initially signed him and at the start of his LFC career he looked like a good prospect but to be honest he's been beyond disappointing for me. Seem he has the attitude he's signed for Liverpool and has therefore made it, no more effort required.

I also do not plan on abusing him, just going to tell him that he needs to get his finger out etc etc.

I'm not sure what I think about this, I think it's out of order if people are slagging him off in the manner of calling him names and telling him to go back to Ajax etc. As much as he frustrates me he's still a Liverpool player and shouldn't be getting this kind of abuse from his own teams supporters.

I'm not sure what to make for the twitter updates. I don't think you can slag him off for not using all his tweets to talk about Liverpool, I don't use twitter but I do use facebook and I certainly wouldn't use all the updates to talk about my work. On the other hand he must be expecting most of his followers to be Liverpool fans...
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                  Fair point.

FYI he very very rarely posts about football, win, lose or draw its all about the music.

Read the injury list today and it just got to me.

I think this is awful abuse of a current player.

Very sad to see, but then having an open platform like this is asking for trouble. I'm hoping that the abuse is not actually from LFC fans.

No wonder he looks miserable as sin all the time. I feel quite embarrassed to be an LFC supporter after reading some of that sh*te to be honest.

You guys giving him **** are a ****ing joke. The lad may not be playing to his full potential but he hardly gets a decent run out. You are meant to be Liverpool fans- grow up chaps

This is a totally asymmetric situation though.

On one side is Ryan Babel, Holland International and Liverpool player, and on the other? Just some anonymous person who could be anyone. Totally unfair, that Twitter allows for easy potshots - but would the person do the same one-on-one and prove what a classless **** they are?!

Didn't think it was that bad.
I don't know why but that made me laugh.

In all seriousness, I don't think what you wrote is bad at all compared to some of the personal abuse he's been getting and am surprised he locked you out because of it. Looks like he doesnt want to talk about anything football related on that site.
