Got to feel for Rafa, he got the tactics spot on tonight. Only two chances for Lyon and both as a result of a mistake.

On the Torres substitution I think it was fairly obvious why he took him off. He left on for so long because we needed a goal. Once we went one up he took him off so N'Gog could run around up front and put pressure on the centre backs like Ian Rush used to.
    Forwards.......

Torres is only about 60% fit and looked ****ed. If he would have injured himself rafa would have been riped to shreds for playing him. Dammed if you do and dammed if you dont i think?

You could see that Torres needed to come off this time, on the weekend he looked fine though.

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

They did look dangerous on the counter but we needed to press and look for a goal. After we got that goal do not think we were out of shape, if anyything we dropped a little too deep, but that's always the case when a team is on a one goal lead with minutes to spare.

When Lyon scored everyone was in position and only a bit of magic or a mistake would have seen them score. The mistake happened.

I agree and i was livid he came off. But as many pointed out, we probably needed Torres more tonight due to being in the last chance saloon. Gamble hasn't paid off though.

Like I said, You've totally got me there. I just didn't realise they were THAT good!!. Are you seriously saying there are only 10, sorry 15 teams in Europe you would rather avoid playing than Lyon?
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

Not yet I don't. We played well tonight and there are signs we are back on track. After the Intrenational break Lyon play Fiorintina and that is still in November.

If we win the rest of our games this month and Lyon get a result I could still say November is the season that got us back on track. Have a little faith. Lyon are a better team than Fiorintina, and will be playing with no pressure. Even if they play their second string they will still want to win, as it happens they may yet play their first team to assure first place.

Besides, some of our players have good mates in the Lyon team so they give it a go for us if they play.

The other three English sides, Barca and Real, Bayern Munich, the milan clubs, Juventus and maybe add Valencia and at a push Bordeaux.

I'm not totally sure on the above list, but I can't think of any other clubs better than Lyon. Can you?

I'm not sure I agree with that, Fiorentina are playing some lovely stuff at the moment.

Imagine if he hadn't have been taken off against Fulham what kind of condition he'd have been in tonight. Sad state of affairs really.

Theyve also just lost at home to Napoli, had 5 goals put past them over 2 games by Debrecen and will be facing pressure they havent faced in a long time. I think its pretty clear Lyon have a better squad than Fiorentina, whether thats enough we'll see.
