Hardly a consolation is it?
Villa got turned over by Rapid vienna. Man Ciity and Spurs aren't even in Europe.

You forget that Lyon have won the league about nine times out of ten in France, and spent close to £80m in the summer, though they did get close to £40m for Benzema.

Lyon are a massive club and their past record in the Champions League proves that.

Its worrying when someone like myself can see clear as day that he isn't good enough yet the scouts and management at our club can't see that? He was at fault for Fulhams first goal on Saturday, he was at fault for their equaliser today and if it wasn't for Reina's magic he would have been at fault for another.
Top class defenders don't make these mistakes at crucial points, average defenders do.

Its tragic that players like Kyriagkos and Voronin are in our team and im getting to the point where I can't justify defending Rafa anymore. Its ****ing criminal that we brought on Ngog tonight when leading instead of a Ayala or Aqualani as we needed to defend and not keep attacking to get second goal.

Carragher was captain tonight a European Cup winner. He should know exactly what to do (so should the rest of them) and tell the players to put the ball in the corners. Im not blaiming Carra and certainly not Rafa but the players on the pitch is who i point the finger at. 1-0 up away from home last 3minutes you time waste and put it in the corners. You learn that at sunday league level.

I think their problem with Debrecen is that they haven't been up for it as much as they would be against ourselves or Lyon.

Dont see why the standard of their league comes into it.

Bordeaux are above Juve in their group, Lyon above Fiorentina, Marseille only 1 point behind Milan....France is showing up Italy at the moment if you want to play it that way!

Lyon are a better team than Fiorentina, and so they should be given the cost of the 2 squads.

Wrong. Define massive. IE never EVER been in a major Euro Final. Unlike Panathinaikos, Bastia, Mechelen, Sporting Lisbon, Wolves!!, Steau, Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Gothenburg et al. MASSIVE. You are talking BOLLOCKS

How many times do we have to watch Voronin for **** sake hes **** and hes proved that enough.

But what pisses me off most is why Rafa brought on a ****in striker when we were winning and needed a midfielder or defender to see out the game. Idiotic decision Rafa. You ****ed up again and i told u you had ****ed up before the game even started. **** off
oh ffs so what would you have done? Not played a striker? Or put Dirk up front and played Aquilani wide? Do you come on here and post when you DONT agree with Rafa and you're proved wrong because Ive never read any posts like that from you. The point is the hindsight is a wonderful ****ing thing isnt it.

I think there are a few things worth mentioning:

                          1. We cant complain about our injury problems for this game. Lyon were devestated as well and lost 2 players in the first half.

                          2. We played well but lacked cutting edge up front. Torres is clearly unfit. Voronin is woeful. Kuyt was a passenger today.

                          3. Lucas really impressed me. First time Ive thought that he could make it for us. He's played well in the last couple of games, but tonight he was class. Few more performances like that and he's not going to be easy to displace. Ive been a big critic of his. Would love him to prove me and all his other doubters wrong.

                          4. Babel. Great, great goal. I noticed tears in his eyes as well. Was quite touched to see that actually. Id like to see him given a bit more of a run from now until the end of the season to see whether he has a future. Yes, he made some stupid mistakes after his goal, but the guy was clearly very emotional. He was desperate to do well for us. Trying to do well - his heart was in the right place.

We played well. We were hit with a sucker punch at the end there. It just doesn't feel like our season does it?

Rafa brought on the fresh legs of N'Gog to hassle their defenders and make them rush the ball, so as not to allow them time on the ball.

And even with a 1-0 win over Lyon, if Fiorintina beat Lyon in Florence we would have been out anyway on the head to head with Lyon. We needed a two goal win tonight to have our own destiny in our hands.

So regardless of 1-0 or 1-1, we needed Lyon to get a point in Florence at least, with them still to play Debrecen to secure qualification.
