Err yes obviously. By your logic Porto could sign Messi, Iniesta, etc etc and spend 1 billion pound on players but not be a good team because they come from a bad league? You have to be on a wind up tonight because you're writing some absolute nonsense.

Lyon are a better team than Fiorentina, its why they have a better squad, a more expensive squad, have beat them already and have a better recent history in this comp than them. Capiche? Good.

Juve couldnt beat Bordeaux from that ****e league at home. Liverpool couldnt beat Lyon from that ****e league at home. Bayern couldnt beat Bordeaux from that ****e league at home....

Liverpool are a better team than Lyon, as are Inter, Milan, Barca etc.....

But on form alone Lyon are better than all the above - including us.

**** tonight. We were unlucky having dominated the game again against Lyon, and recent games show that our squad simply can't cope with this many injuries. I'd argue that we are without Johnson, Aurelio, Riera, Aquilani, Gerrard and half of Torres at the moment from our first choice 11 - take 6 first choice players, including the two best players, out of any of the other top four clubs and they'd struggle too. What's vital now though is that we get a result at home on Monday night and take it from there.

Tonight's was supposed to be a "must win" for the champions league, and Man Utd was a "must win" in the league. Fulham became a "must win" after we'd lost it too. Well, for me, we are genuinely in a "must win" situation now. Win on Monday against Birmingham, and we could quite conceivably be just 4 points off the Mancs despite an appalling run of injuries and results. We would carry a positive result into the international break, and we could possibly have Johnson, Gerrard, Riera, Aurelio, Aquilani, and a fit Torres back in the squad by the time we then face Man City and Debrecen. If Lyon could get a point at Fiorentina, we'd then be set up for yet another dramatic European night needing a 2-0 win at least to go through. Our whole season could start to pick up, and we could go on a bit of a run.

Lose or draw on Monday, and every last shred of hope in the league would be extinguished, and we'd be going into Man City and Debrecen with little confidence and could be turned over. The pressure would continue to mount on Rafa, and with no obvious replacement who would be remotely interested in taking the job at this time, we could go into freefall or see a season of him struggling under pressure from the media and fans to make the top four, reminiscent of Houllier's last season.

We're in the ****, and nothing seems to be going our way, but with players to come back things could change quickly if we can start to get a couple of results. We've got to go on a run now though to stand any chance in any competition, and Monday has to be the start of that. I can't be arsed with too many bitter recriminations about tonight. Just another night where nothing went our way, and the lack of quality in the squad was exposed by such a horrendous sick list.

We beat Manu 2 weeks ago, does that make us better than them?

Fiorentina ****ing hammered us in the first half, Lyon looked pretty average in both games against us.

The point is that Porto could not sign Messi or Iniesta because they play in a **** league....

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Haha you're a genius. Fiorentina are better than Lyon because they come from a better league.

How come Atletico are out and Porto are through by the way, you know Atletico are from the Spanish league and Porto that tin pot Portuguese league. Your logic is that of a 5 year old and on that note im going to bed. Hopefully you can write something interesting tomorrow but I cant see it.

Nice beat them 4-1 a couple of weeks ago, and they've looked pretty average against us in both games. Fiorentina on the other hand hammered us until they got the lead and sat back.

Good, **** off to bed, take the bottom bunk and don't wake your brother up.

BTW I'm going by what I've seen of both sides against us, and Fiorentina looked far more impressive.

                        HUGE? 38,000 for home games.
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

Man for man Lyon have a better team than Fiorintina and a far more expensive squad, have already beaten them and better recent history in the CL.

Nothing else matters in comparing hwo good each team is.

But this is a pointless argument.

The only one that matters is the type of team Lyon put out in Florence.

We only get 44'000 for home games but I hear we've got quite a decent following. Wether or not we have a bigger support than the likes of Newcastle and Sunderland - who both get bigger crowds than us is open to debate
