Is this really as bad as some people are making it out to be?

It's a good starting 11 with some decent subs but no-one really you can rely on to get a goal or change the game from the bench, we seriously lack attacking players, out of the 19 players listed there only 8 are attacking, and there are only 3 creative or flair type midfielders who can make things happen (Gerrard, Aquilani and Benayoun).

We also rely too much on certain outfield players who we can hardly cope without Gerrard, Torres, Aquilani and Carragher (to organise the defence).

Add even one or two injuries and we're struggling with average or off form players

Actually, on hindsight, i would probably drop Benny to the bench and start with Riera...not because i feel Benny is inferior, but that i believe that both him and Babel would benefit from coming on and facing tiring defenders, and will be able to exploit the better. So that gives us a nice attacking option on the bench...and if i had my way, i'd start including young Pacheco on the bench, cos every time i see him he impresses me.

i think lyon will go there intersted. Simply because you want to top your group and avoid the apparent better first placed team in the quarters.

If lyon go there and win, they they guarantee themselves first place as they have debrecen in the following game and then matters are concluded with one game to go.

If they lose against fiorentina will they want to take the chance of leaving top spot on the last game ?

I reckon Fiorentina will try and take them out because they wont want to come to anfield needing to avoid defeat. It may play into Lyons hands as they have some handy players who can play on the counter.

thought i'd be feeling a bit better than this nearly 24 hours on. I've been getting over poor results for us quite easily this season and thought i'd adopted a more zen attitude but last night was the biggest kick in the balls that i can remember for quite a while. i think the CL is massive for us and if we're not in the 2nd stages we hacven't a hope in hell of strengthening in january.

as regards the match/squad/rafa etc.. I don't expect 2.5 million pound central defender to be the man who saves us, or agger who realistically hasn't had much match fitness and was playing beside a guy he's never played with before. and i'm ****in gutted for babel who genuinely looked overcome after scoring only to **** it up defensively leading up to the equaliser and missing the second chance and a ****ed up free kick which i feel rafa will consider more significant than his goal and ship him out asap - where the **** did it go wrong for him.

and i hate putting the boot into voronin but his performance was genuinely one of the worst i can recall in a liverpool team. utterly useless and obviously lacking in either confidence of interest. has to go. his absence would be an improvement.

and we showed where our heads were at by not playing out the last few minutes in the corners - our confience is so shot we don't know how to react to a good turn of events. worst night this season by a long stretch for me.

He did that last night when he took torres off and brought on ngog.

It was a stupid decision and it cost us because they moved their centre half up to play upfront and that helped them get the equaliser. I dont think the guy would have wondered that far up the pitch if torres had been on the pitch.

Another five minutes and we would have won that game. Nevertheless, we still have a chance and if lyon do us a favour and go out there and win or draw then we will have an almighty final game at anfield.

by then hopefully we will have gerrard, aquilani and torres totally fit, as well as johnson and aurelio. it will be a different team

Genius....top of the table, looks like I was right after. I took some stick on this, but Fiorentina showed me more in that 1st game than Lyon did in two.

Exactly, I've started going through my old posts from the beginning of the season and found that the same people are continuously moving the goal posts to make excuses. The concerns we've had and all the **** we've had to take from the same posters just because we don't think Rafa is the second coming...., we don't voice these concerns because we hate Rafa, we voice them because we see fault. Unfortunately the arrogance and smugness of those that look down their noses at us because we fail to be 100% positive has resorted in me retaliating like this with old posts and my siggy change. If I don't do **** like this people claim my current opinions are based on the media and "jumping on the bandwagon".

You need to calm down friend or get a new hobby. Things are clearly getting out of hand. It's only a game after all.
