But we have a tough run of league games after the Birmingham game and we will have to be at the top of our games. As far as I am concerned we ARE out of the title race, but we can still get back in it if we can hit top form after the international break.
be within 6pts going into next year and the title will be ours

thats only 3pts off where we need to be, if we win tonight of course!!

I remember 2 seasons ago thinking Chelsea would come unstuck during the African nations cup.It didn't affect them one bit

They won all 4 games in January

      Arsenal won 3,drew 1.

      Don't hold your breath chaps.

well we are only 9pts behind and they have to go to old trafford and Anfield,

Hopefully arsenal will beat them and we beat everton will make it very interesting!!

the 2 after that are arsenal and wigan both at home, if we won the 4 you mentioned and those 2, think we would be sitting very comfortably indeed!!!

Had Scum not had theit usual ridiculous decisions, we'd hardly be behind them at all.
            3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Oh they'll drop points without doubt, just don't count on them falling apart in january is what I mean.

We need to worry about ourselves first and foremost, get a run of wins going and get some confidence.

To do it we need to sort out our problems at the back.I haven't known such a leaky reds defence since the Evans era

I like to benchmark us against the top of the league, not just ManUre. They are a lot weaker this year than in the past yet still seem to be able to get results. ThankGod for Chelsea is all I can say (and it hurts to say it!!)

Not to mention luck with OGs as well
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

i reckon an attacking team tonight will show our intentions - let the media and the likes of ancelotti write us off - i reckon he wrote us off at half time in istanbul as well the tw@t!!!

if we bomb out of the champions league, which i think we might simply because lyon will be sneaky about the whole thing, then i'd actually fancy us to win the europa league or whatever it's called and also maybe the fa cup.......AND have an almighty crack at the league as well.......

then nxt season, we can go for the clean sweep - the charity shield, the euro super cup, the champions league, the title.....the feckin lot.....

Lets put the negative behind us and go out all guns blazing, take brum apart and get our season back on track. We all know that the team have been way below form but at some point it has to change. I just think someone soon is going to get destroed by us.

If I remember correctly from a couple of years ago the players have to take part in a camp beforehand as well for a week to 10 days so think they may miss more games than the above.

With or without Gerrard and Torres we should have enough to beat Birmingham at home then hopefully the international break should give us enough time to get everyone back fit for the pre and post Christmas period.

I'm not convinced we will be able to catch Chelsea but talk of us dropping out of the top 4 is very premature.

Fingers crossed for 3 points tonight then push on
I think a lot of people, myself included, got a bit doom and gloom a bit too early. I feel a bit ashamed really. Yes, we've been a bit **** and lost 5 games but we've avoided the draws of previous seasons. Look at Man City: They'll probably been thinking P11 W5 D5 L1 is a good solid start (and it is!) as we've done in past campaigns. Truth is, those draws can be as costly as defeats as they sit only 2 points ahead of us. Long, long way to go yet.
I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

I've said that before it's not the games you lose it's all the games that you don't win that cost you

Exactly. People bang on about the number of defeats you can afford to have, in reality it is just about points you can afford to drop.

If we had lost two and drawn three we'd still be in the same position.
                                Forwards.......
