Torres left out of Spain squad for friendlies

-Spain coach Vicente del Bosque left Liverpool striker Fernando Torres out of the squad for its upcoming friendlies against Argentina and Austria.

Del Bosque spared Torres from the 23-man list as the 25-year-old forward is currently playing with a hernia problem. Torres has been a regular since 2003, scoring 23 goals in 71 appearances.

"We spoke to him, we spoke to (Liverpool coach) Rafa Benitez and we came to the conclusion it's better not to force him,'' Del Bosque said on Monday. "We don't want to push him, we want him to recover.''

del Bosque: Rafa, i want Torres for another meaningless friendly.
Rafa: Ok take him, I'm booking his hernia operation for the end of May, maybe he's fit for the World Cup final (if you make it that far with out him?).
del Bosque: I think we'll be OK with just Villa for these games.
            Rafa: I thought so!!!

He should have his op asap. Lets get him 100% fit for Liverpool.

I'm pretty sure after seeing this thread and the squads on Rawk that Torres will not play any part tonight. I think that makes sense and be the best all round.

At last Rafa had some leverage against these c*nting international managers. Good to see us come out on top for once - even if its the unfortunate situation of booking Gerrard's/Torres' operations.
