Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has admitted Fernando Torres is struggling to recover from a groin injury to make a return in time for the Merseyside derby, whilst indicating the Spain international is almost certain to miss the all-important Champions League clash against Debrecen.
The Reds are on the brink of bowing out of the European competition, and have stepped off the pace in the domestic circuit as well. They are 13 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, and have been written off by many as contenders to win the title.
"Torres had a plan of fitness that would take three weeks working with the physios," Benitez is quoted in The Mirror as saying.
"You can see he is improving all the time, but I would say that he is still maybe 10 days away from being right.
"The next few days will decide whether he will be fit for Everton, but at this moment there are no guarantees."
The Merseyside club will travel to Hungary to face Debrecen on Tuesday.
