Arsene Wenger Liverpool have been unlucky

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he can sympathise with Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez's current plight, and believes that the Merseysiders have been the victims of some bad luck this season.

Liverpool travel to Debrecen this week facing elimination from the Champions League. The Frenchman does not think the Anfield outfit's fans deserve to see their club in such a precarious situation.

"I have a huge sympathy for Liverpool," he told the Gunners' official website.

"I can elaborate because first of all it is a hugely historical club.

"And I have a massive respect for their fans who, for me, have always been outstanding."

Wenger feels that those fans have become a little quieter than usual in recent weeks, as the pressure of an extended run of poor form has made everyone at Anfield much more anxious than usual.

"I must say I watched a little bit of the [2-2 draw at home to] Manchester City and their fans looked to be a little bit affected by fear as well because it was the first time I saw them a bit quiet," he added.

"As well, I feel Liverpool have been a little bit unlucky in the last six weeks; they do not get from the games what they deserve."

I agree with most of what he says, however, I have to say that the Alonso situation was not unlucky, he managed to p*ss off one our best players and when he finally left, the replacement he had lined up in Aquilani was injured, ok, Rafa didn't know how bad the injury was, but he still know that he would not be fit at the start of the season. The other area of criticism must revolve around Torres, we are a one-man strike force and to be in a situation where now we are relying on a 20 year old French striker who has only scored a handful of goals for the first team is just ridiculous

Please. Xabi pissed me off for two years mincing around our midfield with his thumb up his own arse. No other club wanted him at 18mil, but its raffas fault? FFS. Do you honestly believe this ****? Have your read Nani's whinge about life at Man U? If xabi really has a problem with being told to up his game then he can **** right off and take his lumpy big head with him.

Raffa knew how bad Aquilani was, but we already have some not good enough back up in Plessis and Spearing, but we needed (remember the buzz word of the summer)...QUALITY and he needed it cheap, which meant Aquilani.

What's Ngog goals/minutes ratio? Who else was available? Have you tried buying a decent striker with less than 5mil these days?
