As for the original question, I can see the reasons why some would vote Yes, Torres' injury prone-ness and the inevitability of losing him if things continue as they are being strong arguments. However, and I speak as one who now has fully lost faith in Rafa and who believes that no matter how much money is spent on our team Rafa's madness (and yes, I mean that) would continue to prevent the glory days returning, no way on earth would I accept any sum of money for Torres. Irreplaceable players don't come around too often and I absolutely could not bear seeing him play for another team.

One because i wouldn't sell Torres, and two, because i don't want Rafa to go just yet, one bad season is a stupid reason to get rid of a good manager, one with the club at heart, and who's in the process of building something long term, this is just a blip, the causes are many, we move on, we play the season out and get that 4th spot, then we go again.

I hate it when some people want to get rid of the coach after one bad season. You don't sell a player after one bad match either, or do you? From my POV, Benitez is an amazing coach and we will get trough this and come out even stronger.

BTW: Wouldn't sell Torres either.

Talking about Benitez and excuses, I think he has plenty actually. The injuries aside, the owners and former management have nearly always seen to it that he has excuses. If he is not backed properly you can't really blame him for having a weakened squad or missing personel, while he is not even allowed to spend what he earns he will always have excuses. Back him all the way and than judge him on the results.

It's not fair expecting 100% success while giving him only about 60-70% of the resources he needs. It will be interesting to see the wage bill comparison after this season, we have usually been around 4th. in the wage league and that usually correlates nicely with teams finishing position.

Maybe we should calculate the wages of the players who have been playing for us this season, that is taking out the injured players, Torres, Gerrard, Aquilani, Agger, Skrtel, Riera, Aurelio and leaving N'Gog, Insua, Lucas and the others. We probably would be punching above our weight.
