I'm not sure why people think that bringing on a player with no match sharpness for the last 20 minutes of an absolutely crucial game (because that's what it was at that point) would have been a good idea.
If we'd have been a couple of goals up or not winning then fair enough but the most important thing in that period of play was to not concede a goal and make sure the other result mattered. Taking Lucas or Mascher off could have weakened us defensively and there's no guarantee that Aqualani would have impacted on the game. He and Dossena were only brought on at all to waste a couple of minutes and see the game out.
If we'd have played well recently and been on the way to winning games with half an hour left I believe we'd have seen a lot more of him but it hasn't been like that and we've been struggling towards the end of games. Once we have some form and we're winning again it's much easier to bring him on and give him more and more match time.
