No chance...........Originally posted by pondus View PostAnd I said it after the champions league match, Aquilani will start
Bit of a white hot game for a midfielder to make his debut. I've been desperate to see Aquilani start games, but even I'm not sure I would give him his full debut in this game.
And in fairness to Lucas and Masch, they haven't been too bad of late. We had been lacking creativity with those two, but I think we created enough chances against Brum and Debrecen to anhihilate both teams, and enough against City to win the game.
So for those reasons I'd start with Masch and Lucas.
Unless we put Gerrard in midfield and Aquilani behind the striker..............Forwards.......

Doesn't matter what 11 we play as long as we get it down and play attacking football, please. They will try and bring us down to their level and if we do we will lose that battle. We need to play above the physical battle, pass the ball around and most importantly...learn to defend set pieces.
Another must win.

Great. So now we don't play someone cos they might get injured. Why did we buy this guy if he has glass legs. He's either up to the physical side of the Prem or he's not. Even match is physical, not just the derby. If Torres was 80% fit and good enough to play the scum this kid can play the derby.Originally posted by Bender View Postyeah that makes sense starting aqualani in a derby ....... guaranteed to get kicked around
If he's not up to it, wrap him up and send him back to Italy.

but also if he's not used to playing football at an English First Division level, he could easlily get sent off - I think we all pointed out the foolishness of playing an inexperienced Lucas against Everton a few years ago.Originally posted by vonk View PostGreat. The fact is that the pace of the game in the prem is very different to the game in Italy, but a derby even more so. the LFC v EFC games have a tendency to be players charging around the park for nearly the full ninety mnutes, and I would fear that this is the sort of game that would pass Aquilani by, either that or he would get caught out in possession too often.
Add the fcat he's only played about twenty minutes since march and he could easily become knackered very quickly due to the pace of the game.
I would rather bring him on later on when the game has slowed a little.Forwards.......

You don't believe everything that you read in the papers do you.Originally posted by Shanks007 View PostAlberto Aquilani set to play Mersyside derby role for Liverpool.
Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is likely to miss Sunday's match at near-neighbours Everton but midfielder Alberto Aquilani will be given his first taste of a Merseyside derby

I believe Skrtel or the greek will play, simply down to aerial threat of Cahill

That's the team I see starting as well, I'd be amazed if Aquilani starts, the nature of the game would make it a difficult one for himThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
