Gerrard's not injury prone though, and i dont think he'd be as unlucky as last season - and Cole's virtually only had two proper injuries in his career, but they've just been massive injuries. I dont consider him injury prone and would expect him to be fit more often than not, assuming he's fully recovered from the knee injury.

Regarding the talk of him playing on left - i understand what people are saying, but when push comes to shove, he's not a winger. Maybe in english football, he'd get more space out wide than centrally, but i'm not sure it'd be natural for him.
I agree about Aqua man's fitness being an issue but I hope he proves me wrong. Hopefully Stevie and Joe can stay fit for the season as well.

If we managed to put sides away early on we could bring pacheco off the bench and give him a taste of 1st team football. If the game is won he can come on and enjoy himself but that didn't happen much last yr as we were struggling to score and win matches so everyone was edgy. With some luck with injuries this yr we could get to see more of the lad

Liverpool face battle to keep Spain U-19 star Daniel Pacheco as striker mulls Real Sociedad approach

Last updated at 12:24 PM on 29th July 2010
Daniel Pacheco has excited Liverpool fans with his performances for Spain at the Under 19 European Championship.

But the forward admits he can see little chance of breaking through at Anfield and is tempted by a move to Real Sociedad.

The Basque club are keen to strike a deal for the 19-year-old and Pacheco revealed he had been taking guidance from former Liverpool and Sociedad midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Illuminating: Daniel Pacheco has been one of the stand-out performers of Spain's Under-19 European Championship campaign
'Of course, playing for Real (Sociedad) appeals to me, without doubt,' he told El Mundo Deportivo. 'I have heard good things about the club, the city and the people, and if things move in that direction, I will be happy to play there.'

Alonso, now a key part of the Real Madrid midfield, played for five years at Sociedad before joining Liverpool in 2004.

Red runner: Pacheco has had limited opportunities at Liverpool in the three years he has been at Anfield
'He (Xabi) has been helping and advising me,' said Pacheco. 'I've been told good things about the coach. They say he bets on youngsters who have character, who like to play.

'I've been told about Zubieta (the training ground), the way they work and the humilty of the club. Everything I hear is good.'

It is unclear whether Liverpool will be prepared to let go of a young talent who has helped Spain's Under 19s to the Euro final in France, but Pacheco fears for his chances at Liverpool after so far making just seven appearances in three years since being signed from Barcelona.

'I don't know much about the negotiations,' he said. 'I'd like to play in La Liga. Above all I want game time or to fight for game time.

'In Liverpool I won't get this opportunity and I would love to have it. Right now the club are signing people and I don't think I will have opportunities. At 19 years old the most important thing is to continue progressing

MUST keep this lad... he could well be a great player in the making, one of very few we've had/found of late.

We should loan him out IMO, and see how he feels after a year in Spain, if we can't keep him i expect a decent price for him.

Hmmmm............certainly sounds like, given the opportunity, he would like to move back to Spain.
Probably doesn't see anyway into consistent matchday appearances, especially with the reference in the last line, but I would assume he hasn't had one-on-one with Hodgson as of yet, so he'll probably change his tune if he hears what he wants to hear from Roy.

Shame if it this ends badly, as he has shown those glimmers of ability when he's been given the chance..

Doesn't sound good from that interview. We need to put our foot down with him and tell him he's not leaving, while at the same time giving him encouragement that he can make the breakthrough this year if he knuckles down and takes his chances.

FFS. No way should we even considering selling or loaning him to a spanish team. He'll end up at Barca or Madrid if we let him go now

We could have the next Pedro on our hands, we need to make sure this kid feels loved.

If we can make a few quids, I'm sure Mr. Purslow won't be against it.
