Hmmm!!! Looks like the media has identified Rafa as their next bait and is going on overdrive to increase their pressure on him. There maybe a certain degree of truth in some of Andy Gray's statements. But one thing all fans should remember that whenever Andy Gray presents a point of view, he accentuates all things which align with his perspectives and conveniently removes everything which disproves his theory.

When an outsider attacks one of our own, we forget all internal squabbles and join hands as one. I hope the everyone remembers that.

Even my wife who by her own admission neither likes nor understands football looked up the other day and said they (meaning Sky and the rest of the media) don't like Rafa very much do they? are they trying to get him sacked??

He doesn't say we've gone backwards since 2005, he said we've gone backwards since last year.

Under the right circumstances, Aquilani will given game time to on the pitch to get up to the level required. Simple really.

Gray may not say it but in the line above, the interviewer implies it. Its that sort of shoddy, not to mention snidey, bits of journalism that **** me off.

Also, after spending loads more money than us for the past two seasons, why are the press not on dear old Mark Hughes' back a little more. Seven draws in a row? From a team that's spent as much as Chelsea did?

Considering, the journos are touting City (and Villa and Spurs) as our supposed rivals for the last top 4 spot, it seems interesting that they are choosing to ignore City's far from impressive form and indeed, Villa's inconsistency. But its hardly new is it?

Anyway, does any Liverpool fan really take what Gray says seriously? I've normally turned him over or muted him before he finishes a sentence about Rafa or the club. He's already subscribed to the hype that is Sly Sports.

Because it would have cost us a load more money we probably won't have due to the interest payments the Americans have. We paid £5m down and structured the rest of a number of years.

As for not playing him in the game, the pitch was heavier than an obese elephant. That's not conducive to a player trying to build match fitness / or come back from an injury.

Although, I agree there have been other occasions where I would have liked to have seen Aquilani introduced. I'm pretty certain that he would have got game time v City had it not been for the injuries in the first 15 mins to Agger and Babel which totally changed our game plan.

He's figured that out by not playing him then yeah?

Even Keane got games to prove his worth and Rafa has already said the problem with Keane was he couldn't play the system he wanted to with Keane cos we didn't get Barry.

I'm bemused by the lack of time Aquilani is getting, even Rafa's explanation dosen't seem right to me,fair enough not playing him if we're winning in a tight game but I don't agree with not giving him a decent run against Birmingham and City when we were drawing and he could've changed the game. You have to risk losing to try and win.

The injuries at city didn't help but I wouldve subbed Benny and put Gerrard wide right to bring on Aquilani.

but then I'm not paid Millions to do this job so I'm obviously ****

Utter nonsense , Debrecan are no better than a Championship side and it was an ideal situation to play him IMO, So on that point ONLY I agree with him, we still had to rely on other teams no matter what the result in Hungry and I dont think starting with him would have damaged our chances of beating them if it was the case then he's not good enough to be a Liverpool player , I think he's slightly better dont you?............For god sake even Voronin could have got away with it in a game like that................then again?

I think my main problem is that so many people in the media put on a gloss of impartiality yet are very obviously biased. I know he supports us and it may partly be my bias at work here but I have much more respect for Phil Thompson who is very obviously an open supporter of a team than many others and it actually seems to make him feel he should try to give balanced views where he can.

I guess the other danger is the sort of group think mediocrity of punditry that has infected the MOTD sofa.
