I guess the other danger is the sort of group think mediocrity of punditry that has infected the MOTD sofa.

Football Punditry in the UK has gone beyond **** now. I am not a big fan of American Sports other than college "American" football, but some of the analysis and opinions which the experts provide in the coverage over here is awesome. The different in quality is embarrassing.

For that matter even in cricket, once in a while we have experts providing a point of view, an insiders view of the game which makes us go "wow! thats a nice point". I dont think I have every had such a moment from the football punditry in the last few years.

Cliched, run of the mill, tabloid nonsense. Couple of wins and the Rafa criticism will end and they will move on to the next target. I bet we could program an automatic quote generating computer bot to replace Andy Gray.

You got me there. I meant coverage of "American' Sports. I primarily watch college "American" football and NFL and the analysis is very very good.

I remember watching a champions league game and funnily enough it wasn't that clown, it was someone else who insisted on describing Peter Crouch as playing like a water buffalo.

And have you had the pleasure of hearing Ray Hudson on GOL TV?

Haha Yes. I have. A lot of people hate Ray, but he has grown on me. He normally talks a lot of ****, but from my experience he never maliciously criticizes a team.

With the way our season is going every game is must win, so we may as well flog him and not bother replacing Alonso then.

Is everyone on here about 14?

He's got no point at all the inbred backward ****wit. Aquilani is being nursed back to fitness, his 30 seconds against Debrecen was simply to waste time, not to nurture him individualy.

Gone backwards since 05? The team with Traore and Smicer etc, he a senile and bitter old cunt.

Yes, of course we are, everyone who holds a different opinion to you must be.

Bull****. All he needs is match time which he isn't getting.

He didn't say since '05 he said since last season. And we have, without a doubt.

He did say he didn't think Rafa has done a good job since we won the CL.

He doesn't say since last season at all. He implies Rafa hasn't done well at all since winning the Champions League. Which is bull**** of course, considering how much our league points totals have improved since then.

Gray believes Moyes has taken the team backwards following their qualification for the Champions League 2005.

He said: “I don’t think he’s done a great job since Everton qualified for the Champions League and if anything they’ve gone backward this year. That’s alarming if you are an Everton fan.

The former Everton player also insisted if the Blues lose at Goodison Park on Sunday, fans that support Moyes may start questioning the manager.

“To lose to Liverpool at Goodison at the weekend would be another hammer-blow to the players belief and will chip away at the confidence of those fans who are still behind David Moyes. His critics certainly don’t need any more ammunition,” he said.

“There is still plenty of passion in the Merseyside derby even if, like most derbies, it may not be as intense as in the past. That is only natural when you compare the modern game to the days when the majority of players in a derby were British. That doesn’t mean that today’s players are not aware of the history and traditions that go with it. Far from it.

“Everton have to pick themselves up after the devastation of winning f@ck all in the last 20 years. Moyes may say his team is confident after almost not losing to Hull last week but I don’t agree with that. They did what they had to do in Hull but there’s no great glory in losing to Hull 2-1. “
                        That looks better.

Ah, k, my understanding of the English language must be bit astray as I coudl swear that would be the accurate interpretation of saying we've gone backwards since last year.

That would be accurate if he actually said 'since last year', as you keep insisting. He says Rafa hasn't done great since winning the Champions League and Liverpool have gone backwards this year.

He doesn't say since when but he does cite '05 and the article even summarizes: "Gray believes Benitez has taken the team backwards following their win in the Champions League final in 2005"

This is clearly what BillobShaisley is referring to.

So yeah, maybe your understanding is a bit astray
