    A touch of realism

OK so give me a little leeway, I don't normally start threads.... although I'm an experienced lurker

Our inability to keep the ball tonight was unbelievably bad; if we do that at Old Trafford we will be punished. Fortunately tonight we met a side that were at best inept. I felt we lacked cohesion but they didn't have a clue how to take advantage. Our clean sheet was while very pleasing it wasn't completely down to great defending. They could and should have scored from a couple of free kicks.

2 years ago while winning the competition we berated the likes of Traore and Smicer but are Gonzalez and Zenden any better?

I'm delighted with the result and know if we can produce the kind of performance we had at Stamford Bridge in the league we can beat anyone.... Somehow we have to find some confidence first. I am keeping my head up and looking onward and upward but we need points from Man U and/or Arsenal in the next 2 away games.

It was great to see Momo back on the field disrupting the opposition, we have sorely missed his presence. Anyone else think if Stevie is to play in the middle it should be with Momo?

Oh and for once I thought Ray Wilkins spoke sense for the majority of the evening.....!

Save all those sensible points for some other place matey, don't want none of them round here.

In all seriousness tho yep, we were pretty dire but our starting 11, 'should' be able to handle Man U, just that they're in a run of good form, and we're in a run of crap form.

I wouldn't call that sensible, it's a bottle and a half of red wine that drew that out......

I agree, man for man talent wise we can beat man u, i just hope our commitment and confidence match theirs.

We were playing probably the worst tean in the champions league and they played better than us. We are playing terrible. Zenden, who is a player I do not mind was woeful. Gonzalez does no look like a footballer at all. Garcia did nothing in the second half. We have serious problems.
Did you see the size off those chickens?

Yes we were. I think we're becoming accustomed to the ****e football we've been playing of late. It wasn't too long ago we kept possession well, had the ball on the floor and controlled games. Lately though, we're a million miles away.

We were VERY lucky not to concede tonight.

Think of the number of sides who have been lucky not to concede more against us this season though. It's about time someone was worse at converting chances than us

A different perspective....but you know against a more clinical side we'd have been ****ed tonight.

Put it in perspective, it was an away game in Europe, starting without our captain, and first choice striker and probably first choice midfielder, and we got 3 points. I reckon we can't complain too much there.

Yeah let's at least try to be positive - we did win. "The sign of a great side is winning when playing badly". Well we're not a great side at the moment but **** it, that's my train of thought.

We had plenty of games like tonight last season, people just seem to forget when we're on a bit of a downer.

In more perspective, a few weeks back we were 3-0 up within an hour at home against a **** team, with our Captain and a full strenght squad yet we ended up clinging to the game like a Michael Jackson baby on a balcony.

Bordeaux wouldn't get out of the bottom half of the Premiership, yet they showed our defensive instability and goalkeeping misjudgements tonight.

I'm usually positive, but can't see us getting a result at Old Toilet.

If we did, I'd be made up, but I still wouldn't think our problems were over unless we played like we are capable of....lately we're not doing that.
