So kinda like we are now then?Originally posted by Mox79 View PostAye, thats why its could the old days. The long ball would kill us at almost every game. Maybe not as bad on the right with Johnson there. But deffo on the left with Riera there. Any way in general it would not be good formation to adopt as we would be very easy to beat.
Nah, being serious I agree with you, would be far too exposed on the flanks.
I'm not sure about this "play Johnson on the wing" thing. I know he's good going forward, but is the answer to our right side really to swap a converted striker for a converted full back? I think it'd be a short sighted move, one of the reasons we've been shakey this season has been a lack of defensive stability, I want to see Johnson starting every game in his correct position and becoming more adept at aspects of the defensive game we are going to need him to improve on looking at the medium and long term.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Mine angry and defrauded young?

No to Kuyt up front.
His lack of mobility and goal threat will put pressure on our midfield.
Keep Wash up there for now, while the goals are flowing. Kuyt has been on terrible goal scoring form of late. HE almost never scores when played as a striker. HE is far better off coming in to the box late, as he has more space for the shot.In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

There is only very rarely an argument for Johnson on the wing - when direct running and crossing out wide might really damage a team. I remember when Rafa went for that sort of set up to beat Bolton under Alladyce with Pennant playing a blinder on the right. At the minute there is never an argument for it as we need to have a settled back four to get out of our bad form.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostSo kinda like we are now then?

I think I feel the same as I have generally in recent weeks - Kuyt needs to play closer to the front man to be effective. I'd swap him and Gerrard unless the latter is now fully fit but I don't see Rafa doing that. I would like us to use Johnson from deep to provide width allowing Kuyt to cut in. For that reason I think we should balance with Riera left. It would also put less pressure on Insua to get forward - whilst he is good at it there is inevitably more pressure on him to get back defensively and his current form is not necessarily good enough to bear it.
I'd keep Ngog up front unless Torres is fit."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I don't think Kuyt is really suited to the lone striker role, I think he does ok with a partner up front but on his own I don't think he's good enough from the start. He has had a decent record when moved up fron for the latter parts of matches, possibly due to high fitness levels against tiring defenders. But from the start of the game we are relatively ineffective when he starts up on his ownThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Don't get me wrong I'm not having a go at him I just think he's more effective in the right hand side role than as a lone striker. That for me is the position he can have the biggest impact.Originally posted by Bender View Postkuyt does the donkey work which needs to be appreciated......rather him a lfc player than a player for our rivalsThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

This would be my preferred option if Gerrard is fit, if he needs a rest then let him have it. Would be good to keep the same team for this game and the Arsenal one. Hopefully Torres and Aquilani get some run outs.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostWhat are the chances of Torres being back?
I'd imagine a team of
...............Reina
Johnson Agger Carra Insua
....Mascherano Lucas
...Kuyt....Gerrard....Riera
..............Ngog
If Torres is out, obviously if Torres is fit he will play.
Hopefully Aquilani will get ~30mins but I guess sthat depends how the game is going* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Oh wasn't having a go mate .......kuyt has his place in the team.....he hasn't been playing well like most others this season.......once the team clicks then so will he and yes he is very ineffective as a lone striker....but i agree kuyt is better on the right but would like to see Johnson give a go there as well.....if we can get cover at r/bOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostDon't get me wrong I'm not having a go at him I just think he's more effective in the right hand side role than as a lone striker. playing carra upfront would be a bit of tactical genius, only surpassed by the decision of playing cristopher samba as a lone striker.Originally posted by javier_monsterano View PostI want to see carra and monsterano played upfront
both score a hat trick and embarass that cunt alardyce for long time.forever, it would be funny.like forever.it could happen.
simple tap ins.anything is possible.did i say i hate that cunt alardyce,i also want to see rafa stick the heed in him/glasgow kiss/headbutt,when the focker comes to shake his hand, outdoing both those cunts wenger and hughes.Jürgen Klopp

Don't tempt fate mate- he's bound to score from a corner against us now.Originally posted by SlovenianKopite View Postplaying carra upfront would be a bit of tactical genius, only surpassed by the decision of playing cristopher samba as a lone striker.
Besides, I think Krygiakos would be much better than Carra up top for us.3rd place. Worst champions ever.

nah, agger has the best goal scoring record of the lot, so i'd go with him.Originally posted by PC Plod View PostDon't tempt fate mate- he's bound to score from a corner against us now.

samba's actually a decent defender, just the sheer genius of playing him upfront (alone) and having benny mccarthy on the bench, must inspire bb fans with great pride in their manager.Jürgen Klopp
