We clearly need a 'forward thinking' type of player who takes risks with this passing to play with Mascherano. Rafa knows this, he wouldn't have bought him if he didn't, FFS.
I've seen enough of Lucas to know that he is not good/creative enough to be used beside Masher if there is a better alternative and there is a better alternative,Aquilani or even Gerrard with Benny playing in the hole.

He's signed as Xabi's direct replacement, even in his short minutes on the pitch you can see he has better vision and more danger about him than lucas will ever have so its a no brainer,if fit(and he is) he plays with masher and is asked to keep us moving forward while not neglecting his defensive duties like Xabi also had to do.

I'm more than happy with lucas being monsteranos deputy when required.
i'm sure we could rest monsterano when we play the **** teams. This is the only time we
      should play lucas.

As for aquliani,he will turn into a world class player at anfield.
his time is coming, let's see what the little prince can learn from the kings.

And please change the thread title.

No he's not. He's probably the best defensive midfield player in the world, it's just we don't need another defensive midfield player playing next to him.

        End of discussion.
