blackburn played on the counter attack that day.

When we were attacking to score a goal we were leaving our midfield too open and blackburn had a few chances to win the game.

Hope my explanation was to your satisfaction

So in effect. If a team is trying to play contra football against you at home you should play with two DM? How would we ever control and take charge at Anfield with that philosophy?

Either way you turn this it just makes no sense but thanks for trying

We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold.

I think we had the right side of midfield fairly sorted last season. In games where a more physical presence was needed Gerrard did a good however when Gerrard was injured, needed in the middle or something different was required Garcia did the trick. While neither are out and out wide men, both do a good job on that side horses for courses if you like.

But then why did so many of us lose our minds screaming for 'width' and a 'proper winger on the right' or 'Alves' or whatever? If the solution was there all along, why did we drop £7 million on Pennant? Are we just fickle? Or is it that the others in last season's Top 3 had two-deep wing play on both sides and dominated from the wings (Ronaldo/Giggs and Robben/Cole)? Looking at those names, Pennant/Aurelio doesn't really strike fear, does it? I think the width issue was a red herring; we just had ****ty finishing all year. Morientes was atrocious, Crouch didn't score for 4 months, and Cisse bagged a few goals (no big goals in the league) but mostly went screaming down the right channel before firing into row Z on chance after chance.

Gerrard should come middle, and we need quality on the right. It was supposed to be Pennant. 4-2-3-1 should be the system.

                Alonso--Momo
                Pennant--Gerrard--Gonzalez/Aurelio
                --Kuyt--

                My opinion.

Pennant from what I've seen of him is full of running, but despite a decent run in the side he just hasn't cut the mustard so far.

Garcia tends to cut inside and as such is not an out and out winger. The other issue I have with him is that is fluctuates between the sublime and ****e often within the same game. All said and done I think he's a better option than Pennant at the moment

Gerrard in theory played on the right as a stop gap last year. However, from what I've seen of him in that position I think he's pretty dam good. Playing Stevie G on the right also allows us to play Alonso and Sissoko in the middle.

                  Thoughts?
                  Gerrard every time.

For the record I'd have Garcia up front with either Kuyt or Crouch.

I'll be glad if Pennant never plays for us again. He cannot play against the scum at the weekend, he's a liability, and we cannot afford to carry one of those.

Gerrard is the answer because Pennant has failed. Garcia is becoming a luxury we can not afford. Spending 7mil on Pennant is begining to look very bad business. If manu , arsenal or chelsea had spent 7 mil on him we would have laughed.
