Carra has been a loyal servant. But the club isn't financially in a situation to be able to reward that just yet. A bit like us banking IT folk in the recession. Maybe a 1 year deal is fair, with an option of a pay as you play in the 2nd year. I can't see him wanting to go anywhere else, not even Man City for a top salary.
    One tit for another.

I'd give him a 12 month extension and a place on the coaching staff. Unfortunately I think we are witnessing the final stages of his career.

I personally think Carra will(or at least want to) make the short switch across stanley park and finish his playing career at his boyhood club, Everton.

no matter how poor carra has been for us so far this year he is a legend at our club and will be a great hyypia type for us for many years to come. give him a 5 year deal to end his carrer here.

Yeah all you have to do is read his book to see his dislike for that club due to the **** that gets said about SG from their bitter fans.

Even his desire to be a one club man which is mentioned multiple times. He is still 31/32 capable of performing well even in a bit part role. Two year contract would be suited with the option of another year and I really think a coaching role at Liverpool is in his future to.

Makes sense to give him the contract that will ensure he sees out his playing days at the club, then move him into a coaching role. He is destined to manage this club one day.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

It's a non story, he'll be 33 by the time his contract expires and is hardly going to start angling for a move so Rafa/the board have ample time to sort out the deal.
I would have thought they'll agree a rolling one year deal with the coaching option thrown in, he could easily play until he's 37/38 as a squad member
