When were Liverpool last this rubbish?

Was it those last two years under Houllier or do we have to go back further?

I would have to say the days of Souness. Even Houllier didnt have a run like this and we were very **** then.

With Houllier we were a boring long ball team. But he had inferior players. Tonight Arsenal fans sang "Liverpool, hoof the ball" despite having quality players like Gerrard, Torres, Benny, Johson. Yet I couldn't but help agreeing we were doing nothing but hoofing the ball.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, Rafa has successfully gathered better players than Houllier but is "choosing" to play in the same manner. :-( Its not about Aquilani being on the bench, its about our philosophy...its the same as Houllier's.
      One tit for another.

Not in my lifetime. If you offered me the Roy Evans era back I'd bite your hand off. It's an awful shame that the fact that Liverpool have been destroyed so SLOWLY in terms of quality that people just don't seem to notice.

Liverpool are now a mediocre team, the result of 2 clown managers who don't know how to play the game. If we went from then to now in a shorter time, I assure you all you'd have noticed.

Who said Alonso wasn't Liverpool's key man?

Surely the strong run at the end of last season showed that we can play good football?
The problems we have now are
                    a) we're scared - We get nervous as the game progresses and our style goes down the toilet, as we become more and more likely to conceed. Players confidence is down. You can see it.
                    b) beyond our strongest 11 we've got nothing in reserve. Too much has been frittered on average players, and to give robbie keane (mis-firing as he was, he did hit the net) the boot and not replace him was stupid. Any idiot and his dog could see that if Torres got injured we'd be knackered and we have been.
                    c) the Alonso effect. You can't just lose your pace-maker, who controlled the play and expect to just carry on. Particularly when the replacement hasn't yet played properly.

I had a dream Rafa was sacked last night. Bizarrely, the replacement was Christian Gross. Now that was scary.

We are **** at the moment, and have been all season, there's no denying that, even with all the injuries we should do better. My mate told me three years ago we would never win the league with Rafa, and I'm starting to believe him.

Do you know, I was watching the Stoke game yesterday and while watching Matthew Etherington whip in all those brilliant crosses it got me thinking about how many millions we have wasted on wing players. Sadly we have spent alot of money on barely decent players.

I know other clubs waste money too but it just ****s me off that we spent a combined £15m on Riera and Dossena and yet I don't think either of them have ever performed any better than the likes of Matthew ****ing Etherington (£2m).

Its sad that we have reached a point where I would take the odd Stoke City player ahead of our lot of expensive signings

Oh **** I forgot about Ryan Babel £11m. Id take Etherington on the left wing over him too. So thats £26m on guys who have played left wing over the last year or so that Im not impressed with and would rather have a cheap left winger from ****ing stoke.

Niko Krancjar is another who moved for about that price during the summer.

If our squad was rubbish, then you could forgive the drivel we're watching.
But with this squad, these performances are unforgivable. It's come to something when some of the movement during the Stoke vs Wigan game, left me wishing we could play like that.
