Prior to the Fiorintina game it looked like Liverpool were finally starting to get their act together. I discounted the Fiorintina result on the basis we did not have a full side out, but the Arsenal result was a real hammer blow.
I did not get to see the game due to work, so was checking on the BBC sports page as it updated itself. Prior to the game, like some others I had a genuine hope that if we did win it we could really get ourselves into a very positive position, and I had no reason to think we could not win the game.
After reading post match analysis from both Rafa, Arsene and all the newspapers, it seemed like Liverpool dominated the game and should have won the game by half time, but I was more than happy to see us go a goal up.
Positive signs.
Then I read how we conceded the goals, not by are team capitulating, but a fluke goal and piece of Magic by Arshavin. So no real concern there on the face of things. But then when we look deeper, therein lies the real problems.
First off, I was not suprised, angry or pissed off by us throwing away the lead. I have become used to it and just kind of though.......Oh well........... When it gets to that scenario, I know we have real problems. I should be suprised. I should be angry. I should not expect and accept our team crumbling once again.
But I did, because it is by no means the first time it has happened this season. It just seems to happen on a regular basis. And I just can't figure out why. And nor, I guess, can Rafa or anyone else.
Serious problems at Anfield.
However, I still think we can finish fouth, and I guess people will start to feel a bit better if we win our next three league games - and these are games we should stroll with Gerrard and Torres back. We have our full team now and there can be no more excuses.
If Rafa still has the dressing room, and there is no way I can ever know this, then I am more than happy for him to remain in charge until at least the end of the season. We'd then have to look at how the season has finished.
It's just a hige annoyance that it seems no one in this league looks like they actually want to win the title, or finish top four. Last season we were so close, and with funding we would have walked it this year.
Just so ****ing gutting.
